Jade is a young girl who normally wears a backpack and boots. While affected by the Demon Tattoo, her skin and eyes can turn pale blue and red respectively. 50 54

Personality

Jade is adventurous, excitable, and eager to involve herself in world-saving events. She arrives during the fight with Shendu specifically because she wants to help save the world, and she takes pride in her contributions against demons. 3 50

She trusts Qiao Luo despite accusations that he betrayed Section 13, recalling that he treated her kindly, took her to amusement parks, bought her food and toys, and intervened when she was bullied at school. 50 She is also playful and enjoys games, readily appointing Qiao Luo as her “number one general” while they play together. 54

The Demon Tattoo amplifies a darker, authoritarian side of her personality. As Queen Jade, she seeks power, rules through the Shadow Army, and pursues control of the Book of Spells; however, she remains attached to Qiao Luo and later seeks her own purpose in the Shadow Kingdom. 55 56 62 63

History

Jade joins Qiao Luo and Jackie Chan during Shendu's resurrection, bringing a magic potion that she shares with Qiao Luo. After Shendu is turned back into a statue, Jade destroys him; Qiao Luo subsequently saves her and Jackie Chan from the collapsing palace. 3

By Qiao Luo's later return to the world, Jade has unknowingly stamped Tarakudo's demon design from the Book of Spells onto her foot. She hides the tattoo beneath boots, fearing Uncle Jackie's reaction. Though she has heard that Qiao Luo stole the Twelve Talismans and betrayed Section 13, she never believes he is a bad person. 50

The tattoo's influence develops into the Shadow Queen. Jade initially shifts in and out of this state, but eventually becomes fully controlled, steals the Book of Spells, and establishes herself over the Shadow Army. 54 55 56 As Queen Jade, she clashes with Tso Lan in space, then assists Qiao Luo in sealing him. Qiao Luo removes the Demon Tattoo with an antidote, causing the Queen Jade consciousness to fade and leaving Jade herself unaware of much of what occurred. 58 60

Qiao Luo later awakens and separates the Shadow Queen from Jade with the Tiger Talisman. Jade is freed, while the independent Queen Jade departs to challenge Tarakudo and become the true ruler of the Shadow Kingdom. 62 63

Relationships
