Setbacks

He did not listen to what the people around him were saying and went straight back to the tower to rest.

The journey had taken some time, and it was already mid-June.

The imperial capital's weather was slightly hot, and there were quite a few people outside. Dole paid them no mind; they were merely second- and third-level Wizards.

After entering the Wizard Tower, Dole asked Aixi, "What do you think about what happened today?"

Aixi thought for a moment, then sat opposite Dole and said, "It should be about paving the way for George. He wants to lay some groundwork for George while testing the reactions of all sides. My eldest imperial brother Andis probably has no chance now."

Dole nodded.

Worry rose in Aixi's heart again. "I originally thought that the two of us would leave after receiving our honors. I never expected that we'd be summoned before the Great Emperor as soon as we arrived, only for so many twists and turns to arise."

Dole frowned slightly as well. The Great Emperor meeting them might have been a small matter, but in other people's eyes, it was anything but. By tomorrow morning, countless things would probably happen.

Forget it. They would cross that bridge when they came to it. First, they would go to the Ministry of Internal Affairs to discuss matters. Once it was settled, they would go to the Clan Rites Office to learn the proper etiquette. He only hoped there would not be too much trouble.

The matter of etiquette was merely going through the motions. Given Dole's current standing, he no longer needed all those cumbersome formalities. Besides, a Wizard's etiquette carried far more weight than that of the secular world. The investiture would probably only explain the procedure.
