Background / History

Xiao Wu is introduced in the Star Dou Forest as a three-year-old Soft-Boned Rabbit soul beast living with her mother, A Rou, in a bamboo grove. Tang Ling seeks her out before Tang San’s martial soul awakening and tells her that her original fate is to meet Tang San, become his closest companion, and eventually sacrifice herself for him 4 5.

After hearing Tang San’s history in the Ba Shu Tang Sect, Xiao Wu judges him as an “ungrateful wretch” and refuses the fate Tang Ling describes. She vows that her life belongs to herself and accepts Tang Ling’s help in changing that future 4 5.

Tang Ling gives her a jade pendant to crush if she faces danger six years later. When Spirit Hall experts attack Xiao Wu and A Rou in the Star Dou Forest, Xiao Wu uses the pendant, summoning Tang Ling through a spatial rift. Tang Ling saves them, heals A Rou, and later ensures Spirit Hall will no longer hunt them 12 13 16.

After Tang Ling’s return, Xiao Wu asks to follow him to the human world. She later appears around Holy Soul Village and Notting Academy, becoming a direct disruptive force in Tang San’s childhood rather than his destined companion 16 25 26 30.
