Aisijin froze for a moment. Her steadily growing strength was the main reason she had changed to a battle-axe. It had become difficult to find a suitable two-handed greatsword, though she had once found them comfortable to use, so she had finally settled on this long-handled battle-axe.

"Brother Ruger, did I hit him too hard?" Aisijin looked toward the empty window.

Cries of alarm still rose intermittently from downstairs.

"Listen. He's still lively enough."

Ruger said it with a smile.

Aisijin nodded.

Big Silly Hum's palm was still healing rapidly. Watching it, Ruger noticed that wounds inflicted by the dagger after it went completely out of control seemed harder to heal, slowing Big Silly Hum's recovery. This also helped explain why the old knight had been so weak, and why part of the wound on his chest still looked so horrifyingly torn open.

"We should head down too."

Ruger said it with a smile.

Big Silly Hum and Aisijin started downstairs ahead of him, with Aisijin leading the way, her battle-axe resting on her shoulder.

Ruger took two steps, then caught sight of a pot of flowers beside the bed and slowed slightly.

He quickly channeled power into a rarely used spell model and pointed. A false ear grew on the inconspicuous back of the ugly little potted flower.

Ear-Growing Spell.

Though he rarely used it, Ruger had never neglected it. Whenever he practiced other spells, he would cast it a few times along the way. Of course, no amount of practice could bring him to Vito's level.

By the time the three kobolds leisurely reached the ground floor,
