Chapter 400: Trade and cooperation

Ruger thought for a moment and chose the briefest possible answer. Even so, it finally wiped the ever-present smile from Lord Kurt's face. The god of the Island, a newly promoted Formal Wizard, looked utterly shocked.

Perhaps he had considered every strange tale he had heard over his long years, but he had never imagined that an entire world was falling, descending toward the caverns and plunging toward the Endless Sea.

Of course, Lord Kurt's long life was only long compared to those of Wizard Apprentices. His true journey through life had only just begun. He would see many more wonders in the future, and then he would no longer be so surprised.

Thinking this, Ruger did not rush to speak. He gave Lord Kurt time to process it.

His thoughts turned to the trade he had been looking forward to for so long.

In fact, throughout those days of anticipation, he had not merely been waiting for that pure Faith Power. He had been waiting for Lord Kurt to appear so they could make a few small trades: some blood that met the requirements for feeding the Blood Curse Doll, for example, or supplies for his experiments. Though he had already moved some things from the Old Lunse Potion Shop into a corner of the Bedroom Space, they were not enough. The old Kobold had acted as though struck by a Miserly Spell, taking away many of the instruments needed for experiments without leaving even a crucible behind. Ruger had always suspected that this was an outward manifestation of the old Kobold's bloodline power.
