Although the curtains were still swaying as they had before he slept, the long-missed, strange dream made Ruger feel that he could not have only just fallen asleep. From his past experience of going hungry, bizarre dreams often meant more time had passed in reality. Back in the kobold cave, that had been a terribly unprofitable kind of sleep—he would go to bed with a full stomach and wake up hungry again. He felt he might already have missed the island's timekeeping bells.

But fortunately, he no longer had to worry about food.

Ruger entered the Bedroom Space and looked around.
