Strictly speaking, this was not a spell any normal person would devise. It was not even fully developed, and it relied heavily on its casting material. That material supplied the final link, allowing this rather crude spell to function properly, while its instability added a strange, amusing touch.
Its casting material was a fresh Demon Heart.
As everyone knew, for ninety-nine percent of the demons in the world, the heart was regarded as the source of their power. Some legends described it in particularly vivid terms as well. With demons numbering in the countless varieties, that statement might not have been entirely precise, but intelligent demons generally accepted it too. A Demon Heart was indeed one source of power, and it also influenced the awakening of a demon true name. It was the core of a demon in its normal state.
For wizards, a Demon Heart was likewise a supernatural material containing most of a demon's concentrated essence.
The spell's name, Inverted Cup, held several meanings. Using a Demon Heart specifically as its casting material, it removed everything useless and twisted the heart into a beautiful wine cup. The cup retained only the demon's concentrated chaos, allowing even high-rank wizards, or wizards whose modified bodies were exceptionally powerful, to enjoy the wonderful sensation of getting drunk that they had known as apprentices. Chaos combined with fine wine turned the mind upside down and sent the world spinning. This was also an inversion of the Demon Heart itself. During the shaping process, all the various powers it normally possessed were discarded, leaving only the chaos that intelligent demons most despised, the same chaos they shared with ordinary demons.
