Background / History

Beerus is Universe 7's God of Destruction, a divine position above the Supreme Kais. His role includes destroying planets, and Frieza's planetary campaign was carried out under Beerus's authority; Beerus ordered Frieza to eliminate Planet Vegeta and its Saiyans. 22 144

He routinely sleeps for decades at a time. During one such sleep, Frieza considered using the Dragon Balls to awaken him against Indra, while Beerus's Planet was maintained by Whis and staffed by Androids 16–18. 22 83 90

When Beerus awakened, he remembered dreaming of a powerful Super Saiyan God and traveled to Earth to find that figure. Earth's ninth-tier cuisine quickly became another reason for his interest in the planet. 144 145

Food is one of his strongest motivations. He values divine delicacies, dismisses eighth-grade Dokal Dragon eggs after tasting Earth's ninth-tier cuisine, and abandons his plan to destroy Earth because he wants continued access to its food. 145 151

After threatening Earth, Beerus effortlessly defeats Gohan and Piccolo, then battles Vegeta and Goku. Goku reveals Super Saiyan God and Super Saiyan Blue, but Beerus remains overwhelmingly stronger. 146 148 149
