Background / History

Kurumi succeeded Rita Rossweisse as Higashino Makoto's secretary after Rita's one-month rotation ended. She introduced herself in an elaborate Gothic maid outfit, immediately framing her theatrical mannerisms as “role-playing” and claiming they were a secretary's fundamental quality. Makoto assigned her practical duties: tea preparation, document organization, conversation when he was bored, silence when needed, and combat assistance in danger. 62

Her first month accompanying Makoto took her from the Holy Kingdom to the Slane Theocracy, the Elf Kingdom, and the Dragon Kingdom. She served as an observer, intelligence handler, and trusted attendant: receiving encrypted communications from Novas Aetir, preparing meals, delivering official correspondence, and following orders without needless questions. 62 64 82

During the journey to the Elf Kingdom, Makoto entrusted Kurumi with restraining Certain Death if her vengeance against the Elf King turned into indiscriminate slaughter. 83 When Makoto redirected their route to aid the Dragon Kingdom against the Orc invasion, Kurumi supported the decision despite teasing him for acting like a tsundere paladin. She later stood beside him after he annihilated the Orc army, offering quiet support when he reflected on the lives he had failed to save. 100 102

Kurumi's rotation ended after exactly one month, with Illyasviel von Einzbern taking over as secretary. A second Kurumi—identified as the original Kurumi of a ruined Date A Live world—appeared much later. This Kurumi had repeatedly used the Sixth Bullet to alter the past and save Shiori Itsuka, but every attempt ended with Shiori's death and Tohka's destruction of the world. After exhausting the Sixth Bullet and losing the ability to change history, she sought Makoto's help. 354

Makoto revived Shiori, after which Kurumi helped Shiori and Beast Tohka send him into the past with Zafkiel's Sixth Bullet. 355 357 In the restored timeline, she retained memories of the destroyed worldline, including the version in which she offered herself to Makoto as compensation for saving the world.
