Background / History

Sasuke enters the Ninja Academy as Fugaku Uchiha's youngest son. He is already regarded as a privileged young member of Konoha's premier clan, arriving with his father and displaying precise shuriken technique. He watches Qianyu with curiosity after Fugaku becomes visibly unsettled by Qianyu's resemblance to Madara Uchiha. 2

Before the Uchiha clan extermination, Fugaku asks Qianyu to look after Sasuke at the Academy, describing his son as gifted but overly proud. Sasuke is confused when Fugaku offers Qianyu Uchiha techniques and compensation for a prior assassination attempt. 9

The massacre destroys Sasuke emotionally. Qianyu later tells him that Itachi had outside help and that hidden Uchiha children were also killed, prompting Sasuke's one-tomoe Sharingan to awaken. Qianyu warns him that his enemies extend beyond Itachi. 12

At graduation, Sasuke defines Konoha as both the place that nurtured his hatred and the system that permitted his clan's destruction. He distinguishes the village leadership and Itachi from civilians and friends such as Naruto. 31

Orochimaru places the Curse Mark of Heaven on Sasuke during the Chunin Exams. Although Qianyu recognizes its corrosive influence, Sasuke is exhilarated by the power it provides and later trains intensely under Kakashi to control it. 35 36 38
