Background / History

Tsunade is the granddaughter of Hashirama Senju, the First Hokage, and carries a profound personal connection to the Senju legacy and Wood Release. She left Konoha after becoming disgusted by the village's secret experiments on people with Senju blood, which were conducted in the name of recreating Hashirama's power. 17

Hiruzen Sarutobi summoned her back after Cangshu Qianyu manifested pure Wood Release. Initially convinced that Qianyu might be another experiment, Tsunade returned from Tanzaku Town, confronted Hiruzen, Danzō, Homura, and Koharu, and vowed to stop anyone from exploiting the child. 17
