History

Yu Xiaogang locates traces of the 422-year-old Datura Snake and presents it to Ao Yin as a possible first soul ring, while privately intending it for Tang San instead. 23 When the serpent appears, Ao Yin provokes it with a stone, then escapes using Mist Step; the enraged beast pursues him. 24

Ao Yin deliberately leads the Datura Snake into a danger zone inhabited by a 654-year Six-Winged Frost Centipede. The two soul beasts clash, leaving both severely injured: the Datura Snake suffers deep ice-spike wounds, while the centipede is bitten and poisoned. 25

The wounded serpent later confronts Tang San and Yu Xiaogang. Tang San blinds it with bone-piercing needles, then kills it by stabbing its vital point. 27 Although a yellow 422-year soul ring rises from its corpse, Ao Yin's system claims it as the “Son of Destiny's Soul Ring”; Ao Yin then crushes the ring rather than absorb it, permanently denying Tang San the Datura Snake's soul ring. 27
