Background / History

Ao Yin initially died from overwork and transmigrated into the Peerless Tang Sect. He spent five years as a menial, unable to pass the outer-sect disciple assessment while Tang San rose from the same compound to become an outer disciple. During a storm at the Scripture Pavilion, Ao Yin awakened the Sign-In System and signed in for the Tang Sect’s ultimate art, the Mysterious Heaven Treasure Record. Tang San attacked him with the Flying God Claw and a sleeve arrow, killing him and taking the book. 1

He reincarnated in Holy Soul Village, where he encountered Tang San again. Recalling both his own death and the death of the body’s previous owner at Tang San’s hands, Ao Yin resolved to intercept Tang San’s destiny and take what would have belonged to him. His system rewarded him with the Coiling Dragon Staff, then the god-tier Dark Sacred Dragon, at the village’s martial soul awakening ceremony. 2

Ao Yin concealed the Dark Sacred Dragon and presented only the Coiling Dragon Staff, which Su Yuntao misidentified as a weak mutated iron staff. His test instead revealed Innate Full Soul Power, earning him an invitation to Spirit Hall Academy. Ao Yin refused because he intended to attend Notting Academy and reach Xiao Wu before Tang San. 3 4

He challenged Tang San for Holy Soul Village’s work-study slot at Notting Academy, defeated him, and nearly continued the attack until Tang Hao intervened. Afterward, Ao Yin spent more than three months training in the village, working for Village Chief Jack by chopping firewood while accumulating sign-in rewards. 5 6 8

At Notting Academy, Ao Yin defeated the gatekeepers, rejected Yu Xiaogang’s attempt to take him as a disciple, and became the boss of Seventh Dormitory after defeating Wang Sheng and Xiao Wu. At Shrek Academy, Ao Yin concealed his true ring colors when convenient, defeated Dai Mubai, passed Zhao Wuji’s entrance assessment by fighting him for a full stick of incense, and became recognized as an exceptional member of the Shrek Seven Devils. After becoming separated from the group in the forest, Ao Yin defeated a thirty-thousand-year Man Faced Demon Spider but was pursued by a ten-thousand-year Dark-Gold Dreadclaw Bear. He entered the forest’s forbidden core region to survive, where he reunited with Xiao Wu and faced Da Ming and Er Ming. He openly revealed his twin martial souls and four-ring configuration, confirmed that he had long known Xiao Wu was a transformed hundred-thousand-year soul beast, and earned the two great soul beasts’ wary curiosity. 82 83

Ao Yin and Xiao Wu subsequently cultivated together in the core region, raising him to Level 42 and Xiao Wu to Level 39. Returning to the Great Soul Arena as Long Aotian, he defeated Tyrant Sword Xiao Yan, then partnered with Xiao Wu as the Ao-Wu Combination. Although he restrained his strength during their two-on-two match against Ming Hou and Yue Ji, he ultimately used the self-created god-tier Radiant Gold Sacred Dragon Aspect to destroy their Martial Soul Fusion Skill and kill both opponents. Ao Yin accepted Ning Rongrong’s invitation to cooperate with the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect, recognizing that his hidden weapons could remedy the sect’s lack of direct combat capability. Pressured by Ning Fengzhi, Chen Xin, and Gu Rong, he accepted a proposed match with Ning Rongrong, though they did not require a formal engagement. He received a supreme guest token and declared himself the Ao Sect’s sole founder. After Bone Douluo Gu Rong brought him to the sect, he provided Ning Fengzhi with the complete Godly Zhuge Crossbow manufacturing blueprint. His new Spirit Eyes ability was later revealed during a spar against Qin Ming, when he copied and enhanced Qin Ming’s Heaven-Burning Flames. 120 127

At Heaven Dou Royal Academy, Ao Yin endured and overwhelmed the pressure test imposed by education committee chief Meng Shenji, earning the three Soul Douluo committee members’ admiration. He signed in at the academy for the Myriad Poisons-Immune Body. When Poison Douluo Dugu Bo later attacked him with Jade Phosphorous Serpent Emperor venom, Ao Yin neutralized it and mocked its taste. At Dugu Bo’s Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well, Ao Yin obtained the Thousand-Blue Ice Flame and the initially dormant Yin-Yang Protective Divine Aura through sign-ins. He suffered genuine injuries during his confrontation with Dugu Bo, but his apparent vulnerability to poison was a deception intended to secure access to the well. Dugu Bo brought the captured Liu Erlong to the well and made her survival a test of Ao Yin’s ability to treat his granddaughter Dugu Yan. Ao Yin cured Liu Erlong of Dugu Bo’s combined poisons with an immortal herb, his poison-immune constitution, Yin-Yang Origin power, and the well’s spring water. Their ordeal left Liu Erlong grateful but embarrassed by the intimacy of the treatment. Ao Yin then received a hundred-thousand-year Evil Orca King ring for the Dark Sacred Dragon and broke through to the five-ring Soul King realm. With Dugu Bo’s permission, Ao Yin harvested most of the well’s rare medicines, giving Liu Erlong the Octagonal Mysterious Ice Grass and retaining numerous other herbs for future use. Ao Yin began as a six-year-old boy whose patched brown clothes and grime concealed a notably handsome appearance. After bathing and changing into clean clothes, his appearance became striking enough to draw immediate attention from Wang Sheng and Xiao Wu. 13 18

Ao Yin is intensely vengeful toward Tang San. He views Tang San’s death of his previous incarnation as a debt to be repaid and deliberately seeks to steal Tang San’s opportunities rather than simply defeat him outright. His caution has limits: although he openly humiliates Tang San, he restrains himself once Tang Hao’s protection becomes clear. 2 6 7 17

He is proud, independent, and distrustful of authority. He refuses both Su Yuntao’s Spirit Hall Academy invitation and Yu Xiaogang’s repeated offers of mentorship, believing Yu Xiaogang is unworthy to guide him.
