Background / History

Ron is Vaughan Weasley's twin, born five minutes after him. Their family often treats Vaughan as the older brother, a distinction Ron resents despite their nearly identical age. Unlike Vaughan, Ron was considered uncertain to receive a Hogwarts letter because his childhood magical outbursts had been weak. He nevertheless receives his acceptance letter and proudly clings to it. 2

His family’s financial situation shapes much of his insecurity. Ron expects to use Bill and Charlie’s old school supplies, receives Percy's rat Scabbers as a hand-me-down gift, and is embarrassed by secondhand belongings. Vaughan later buys him a new wand, which Ron treasures. 3 5 11
