Background / History
Early Life and Estrangement
Bibi Dong was originally a commoner and became the disciple of Qian Xunji, the former Pope of Spirit Hall. He sexually assaulted her in a secret chamber, and she subsequently gave birth to Qian Renxue. The trauma shaped a mother–daughter relationship marked by abandonment, resentment, and an unfulfilled desire for affection. Her rise to power later involved murdering her master, seizing authority, and years of concealed plotting 5 240 254.
Qian Renxue undertook her long infiltration of the Heaven Dou Imperial Family partly to earn her mother’s acknowledgment. Bibi Dong left her daughter in the Worship Hall, while Qian Renxue eventually assumed the identity of Crown Prince Xue Qinghe. Their estrangement continued even as both worked within Spirit Hall’s wider political plans 168 185 222.
Monitoring Li Hanche
Salas reported Li Hanche’s exceptional awakening to Bibi Dong when the boy was six. Qian Renxue deliberately recruited him first, providing a residence, money, and maidservants to demonstrate that she could outbid Spirit Hall. Li Hanche initially became a piece in their distant rivalry 5.
Bibi Dong continued receiving intelligence about him for nine years. Yue Guan investigated his movements, and reports covered his cultivation, battles, and growing intimacy with Qian Renxue. Although she compared his troublesome behavior to her daughter’s, she took a particular interest in their relationship 46 160 185.
Tournament Confrontation and Public Scandal
After ten-year-old Li Hanche defeated Spirit Hall’s tournament team, Bibi Dong offered to recruit him. He refused and publicly attacked Spirit Hall’s conduct, Hu Liena’s treatment of Yan, and Bibi Dong by implication. She retaliated with soul-power pressure that hurled him into a pillar and broke more than half his bones. Qian Renxue, Chen Xin, Ning Fengzhi, Gu Rong, and Dugu Bo defended him during the ensuing confrontation 62 63 64.
Bibi Dong later prohibited “Li Hanche and dogs” from entering Spirit City. Qian Renxue retaliated by publishing allegations that Yu Xiaogang’s theories came from Spirit Hall’s archives and that Bibi Dong had granted him honorary elder status through favoritism. Humiliated by the exposure of her former relationship, Bibi Dong traveled to Heaven Dou City to confront her daughter 170 171.
Their private argument exposed the depth of their estrangement. Qian Renxue accused her mother of abandonment and using her as a pawn; Bibi Dong broke down and compared her daughter’s actions to Qian Xunji’s abuse. Qian Daoliu secretly followed them to prevent an irreversible confrontation 172 173.
Accepting Her Daughter’s Marriage
At fifteen, Li Hanche returned with eight soul rings and seven Titled Douluo, announcing himself by piercing the Pope’s Palace with an ice spear. Bibi Dong recognized his divine inheritance and learned that he intended to marry Qian Renxue. She was more restrained than during their first confrontation, despite further provocations involving dogs and a replacement gate sign targeting Yu Xiaogang 182 183 184 186.
When Yu Xiaogang subsequently requested guidance on cultivating Twin Martial Souls, Bibi Dong refused. She rejected his familiar address, demanded that he call her “Your Holiness the Pope,” and described her earlier devotion to him as blindness from which she had recovered 201.
The wedding brought a thaw in her relationship with Qian Renxue. She returned her daughter’s embrace, accepted Li Hanche as her son-in-law, and told Qian Renxue that she was happy for her. Afterward, she personally cooked for the family gathering and joined their family portrait 207 217 218 220.
Confession and Emotional Recovery
Bibi Dong eventually explained her treatment of Qian Renxue to Li Hanche: she loved her daughter but feared loving someone who also carried Qian Xunji’s blood. She admitted that she had once wanted to destroy Spirit Hall, the continent, and everything associated with her suffering. Li Hanche’s repeated challenges and their developing family bond had weakened that desire 240.
Li Hanche credited her own willingness to reach out with giving the Pope’s Palace the warmth of a home. After their conversation, they walked through Spirit City’s night market, ate candied hawthorn and noodles from a shop she remembered from childhood, bought accessories and dresses, and watched fireworks arranged by Yue Guan and Gui Mei 241 242 243.
Empire, Godhood, and Reconstruction
Bibi Dong declared Spirit Hall an empire and named herself its first empress. She approved Li Hanche’s abolition of hereditary noble privileges and supported making the Mysterious Heaven Skill available to commoner soul masters 253 255.
Li Hanche supplied the baleful aura needed for her final Rakshasa Trials, allowing her to complete them during preparations for war. Upon becoming the Rakshasa God, she immediately tested her new power against him in an intense but nonlethal spar above Spirit City 257 258 260 261.
She then led the invasion of Heaven Dou with fifteen Titled Douluo and the forces of the reorganized major sects. Following the old empires’ collapse, she reinforced the new merit-based order, warned against oppressive officials, and personally vetted city lords during reconstruction 262 270 271 274.
Abdication and Life in the God Realm
Bibi Dong joined Li Hanche and Qian Renxue at the final assault on the Clear Sky Sect. After its destruction, Qian Renxue embraced her and apologized, having learned the truth about her parents’ past. Bibi Dong entrusted Hu Liena’s care to Yue Guan and Gui Mei and promised that they would reunite in the God Realm 284 289.
She abdicated to Hu Liena and ascended with Li Hanche and Qian Renxue. Before their departure, Li Hanche resurrected Xiao Wu’s mother, whose soul Bibi Dong had taken 290.
In the God Realm, Bibi Dong initially sought quiet years after decades of exhaustion and asked her daughter and son-in-law to visit. She later welcomed Hu Liena and her former subordinates, reconsidered godhood as a beginning rather than an endpoint, and watched her granddaughter Li Nian’s mortal-world journey through the Asura Mirror 292 298 301 316.
Appearance
Bibi Dong is described as exceptionally beautiful, with exquisite features, a tall figure, phoenix eyes, and a cold, elegant bearing. Her ceremonial crown accentuates the distance and authority of her public appearance 62 240 260.
- Papal attire: Ceremonial robes with solemn purple patterns and the Nine-Bend Purple Gold Crown 57 191.
- Private clothing: Purple silk nightgowns and long purple dresses; she also considers a pale blue dress during her night-market outing 185 241 242.
- Divine appearance: Purple-black armor and a sinister, ghostly-glowing scythe 260.
- Imperial regalia: Imperial robes, a nine-curved crown, and the empress’s scepter at her abdication 290.
Personality
Bibi Dong habitually maintains a composed, unreadable public expression, even when insulted. Her anger can surface through small physical signs—tightened fingers or a cracked throne armrest—before escalating into direct retaliation. Threats to her authority and exposure of her private history can overwhelm that restraint 58 60 63 171.
Her coldness toward Qian Renxue conceals affection entangled with trauma. She explicitly distinguishes being afraid to love her daughter from not loving her. Li Hanche becomes one of the few people she trusts enough to hear her confession, and she gradually permits herself affection, humor, and ordinary pleasures without entirely abandoning her sharp manner 240 241 242 258.
As empress, she remains uncompromising toward dissent and corruption but becomes increasingly attentive to the people she governs. After attaining godhood, she cautions her followers against arrogance and oppression rather than treating divine supremacy as permission to abuse others 261 270 274.
Abilities & Skills
Twin Martial Souls
Bibi Dong possesses two martial souls; the provided passages do not name them 215.

Soul-Power Pressure
Her overwhelming soul power can incapacitate much weaker opponents without a conventional weapon strike 63.
- A single pressure attack throws Li Hanche across the hall, breaks more than half his bones, and leaves him severely injured 63.
- This attack precedes her ascension to the Rakshasa God position 63 260.
Rakshasa Divine Power
After completing the Nine Trials, Bibi Dong wields dark-purple divine power and controls its baleful, murderous influence 260 261.
- Physical reinforcement: Uses divine power in punches, elbow strikes, and rapid aerial close combat 260.
- Divine pressure: Her ascension makes the Pope’s Palace tremble; even Titled Douluo struggle to follow her spar with Li Hanche 260.
- Controlled application: Gently lifts kneeling elders and worshippers with divine power 261.
- Combat limit shown: Li Hanche ultimately restrains her and ends their spar; neither participant intends to kill the other 261.
Political and Military Leadership
Bibi Dong directs Spirit Hall’s intelligence gathering, sect reorganization, continental campaign, and imperial reconstruction 185 237 262 274.
- Intelligence: Receives Salas’s reports and dispatches Yue Guan to investigate Li Hanche 5 185.
- Sect policy: Plans a new Seven Great Sects Conference and the replacement of the old Upper Three Sects 237.
- Merit-based government: Approves abolishing hereditary privileges and reinforces appointments based on ability rather than lineage 253 270.
- Anti-corruption measures: Personally vets city lords and warns that rank or cultivation will not excuse exploitation of commoners 271 274.
- Succession: Transfers the imperial scepter to Hu Liena and calls on officials to support the new empress 290.
