Background / History
Tiger was born in Fish-Man District and became an explorer and traveler. Before leaving Fish-Man Island, he united the district's chaotic forces through his strength and became the leader respected as Boss Tiger. He departed on a global journey six years before joining the Sky Pirates, completed his dream after five years, and was captured just as he intended to return home. 28 30
He spent roughly a year enslaved by the Celestial Dragons. The experience left him terrified of Mary Geoise, deeply distrustful of humans, and ashamed to let anyone know he had been a slave. 23 59
Ye Mu found Tiger wearing an explosive slave collar after killing a Celestial Dragon. Though Tiger initially refused to acknowledge his own name, Ye Mu and Enel removed the collar and offered him a place in the Sky Pirates. Tiger accepted because Ye Mu promised to help rescue the Fish-Men enslaved in Mary Geoise. 23 24
As the Sky Pirates' navigator, Tiger used his extensive knowledge of the sea and ability to communicate with sea beasts to guide the Twin Goddesses. He gradually came to regard Ye Mu and Enel as companions rather than humans to fear. 27 28
During Ayala's medical crisis, Tiger overcame his trauma surrounding human–Fish-Man blood exchange and volunteered blood that matched hers. The decision marked a major step in confronting his hatred of humans. 59 60
Tiger reunited with his mentor Tom and Kokoro at Water 7 after twenty years apart. Tom's guidance had helped turn the once-troublesome Fish-Man District child into the figure he became. 83 84
After six years away, Tiger returned to Fish-Man Island with the Sky Pirates. He was reunited with Jinbe, Aladdin, and Arlong, then worked with Ye Mu to confront the island's dependence on outside protection and establish the Sun Army. 147 153 155
Appearance
Tiger is a burly, red-skinned Fish-Man with a heavily muscular build and an imposing presence.
- Red skin and a large, powerful physique. 23 84
- Usually wears a coat over a black vest in combat. 94
- Bears the Hoof of the Flying Dragon mark from his enslavement, a reminder of his past trauma. 59
- His aging has been slowed by a Pure Gold ring; at sixty-eight, he appears closer to his fifties. 492
Personality
Tiger is mature, thoughtful, and intensely protective of those he recognizes as his people. His experience as an explorer gave him broad knowledge and a habit of considering the practical consequences of decisions, including the Sky Pirates' uneven combat strength and the risks of ship coating beneath the sea. 106 166
His past enslavement left him with enduring anger toward the Celestial Dragons and a deep resentment of humanity. He does not excuse oppression or weakness, yet he is capable of empathy: he donated blood to save Ayala despite the psychological cost, and he pitied Mad Treasure for treating his own mercenaries as disposable tools. 59 94
Tiger believes Fish-Men must develop the will and strength to defend themselves rather than rely indefinitely on Ye Mu's protection. His leadership during Fish-Man Island's defense turns this belief into action, rallying Fish-Man warriors to fight pirates and traffickers themselves. 153 171 172
