Background

Demon Hunters are dark Night Elf warriors rejected by their own society after making pacts with dark powers to fight chaos. They blind themselves to better detect demons and wield magic-infused weapons against them. Yudian is described as one of the Night Elf faction's strongest and most devoted warriors, as well as a former prince whose past sacrifices and deeds were misunderstood by his people 7 13 35.

Huang Long summoned Yudian without cost when the Altar of Elders was completed, making him the Night Elf faction's first hero. Although his memories had been suppressed by his revival, Yudian accepted Huang Long's claim that they were comrades and agreed to fight beside him as a brother rather than a mere subordinate 7 8.

Appearance

Yudian is a lean but powerfully built Night Elf warrior whose appearance combines noble elven traits with overtly demonic features 7.

Yudian is proud, composed, and intensely battle-oriented. He speaks elegantly in calmer moments, but becomes ruthless and openly mocking against enemies who threaten the Night Elf faction 13 14 18.

He values trust deeply. Huang Long's willingness to treat him as a brother rather than a disposable servant earns his loyalty, and Yudian repeatedly acts to protect Huang Long even when Huang Long does not recognize the danger he faces 8 22 38.

Yudian is also perceptive and strategic. He devised the barricade layout used during the magical-beast siege, negotiated the Great Golden Roc's temporary alliance, and sensed that Tyrande stirred an inexplicable familiarity within him despite his lost memories 9 19 37.

Magical-Beast War

Yudian rapidly levels after his summoning to help defend the Tree of Life from nearly a thousand invading magical beasts. He plans the defensive barricades, slaughteres enemy forces with Demon Fire, and confronts the Level 7 Great Golden Roc 8 9 12 13.

After gaining Mana Burn, Yudian helps drive back the Roc. He later secretly bargains with it: the Roc will aid the Night Elves against the Purple Savage Elephant and Tong Ape in exchange for ten leaves from the Ancient Tree of Life 15 19.

Yudian defeats and injures the Tong Ape with Immolation and Demon Fire, while coordinating Ina's attempts to prevent the enemy from escaping 20.

Expansion of the Night Elf Faction

Following the war, Yudian supports Huang Long's plan to establish the Night Elves on the continent and oppose the undead. He considers the undead instinctively repulsive and pledges his support to the campaign 27.

He also guards Huang Long from disturbances, confronts the Great Golden Roc when it attempts to see the resting chieftain, and assists in managing the faction's stronger archers 26 27 30.

Tyrande's Summoning

Tyrande's arrival unsettles Yudian because of an unexplainable familiarity. Huang Long deliberately separates them, fearing that Yudian might repeat the tragic choices of his previous life 37.

Yudian later reveals that he knows he and Tyrande have each died once before, though he lacks a full understanding of the circumstances 38.

Azzinoth's Possession

While investigating a mysterious cave, Yudian is overwhelmed by demonic energy. Azzinoth's soul emerges through the Warglaives and takes control of Yudian's body, turning Yudian from Huang Long's protector into an immediate threat 43.

Yudian's soul remains active and resists within his own body. However, his Level 6 soul is at a disadvantage against Azzinoth's Level 7 soul, leaving him unable to easily expel the Doom Guard or reclaim complete control 48 49.
