In Shadowmoon Valley of Outland, at the Black Temple, the Betrayer Illidan held the Sargerite Keystone and drew upon the energy of the miniature Well of Eternity within the Black Temple. Violent energy surged into the skies above Outland.
At the same time, in the northern reaches of the Eastern Kingdoms on Azeroth, within the palace housing the Sunwell on the Isle of Quel'Danas, Sun King Kael'thas Sunstrider held the Scepter of Sargeras and directed the Sunwell's immense energy into the sky.
The energy of the Sunwell and the miniature Well of Eternity in the Black Temple both originated from the original Well of Eternity. Sharing the same source, they soon resonated with one another.
Both the Sargerite Keystone and the Scepter of Sargeras were spatial artifacts. Empowered by the immense arcane energy of the Well of Eternity and the Sunwell, they quickly tore open a spatial rift.
Though Outland and Azeroth were separated by an immense distance, they could now see one another directly through the spatial rift.
The rift grew larger and larger, and the lands of Outland gradually descended from their original universe into the space near Azeroth.
At that moment, Med'an, guardian of the Forge of Origination, activated the immensely powerful Forge of Origination. Endless scorching energy descended upon the western waters of the Great Sea, instantly vaporizing a vast stretch of the area.
The Titan Keepers also activated their authority in Ulduar, ensuring that Azeroth's world barrier would not resist Outland's arrival.
Although the Spell-Weaver Malygos had lost the power of the Titans, he still possessed the magical artifact known as the Focusing Iris and could still regulate Azeroth's ley lines. Outland's arrival would likewise have a tremendous impact on the ley lines, and its own ley lines could be used to remedy the problems
