Despair was the source of the Sha of Despair's energy. Earlier, when it had run rampant through the Temple of the Red Crane, it had successfully defeated Chi-Ji. Yet Chi-Ji represented hope, which happened to counter the Sha of Despair, preventing it from displaying its full strength. Jaina Proudmoore, however, was now its ideal vessel.

The Sha of Despair sprouted a tentacle directly from Jaina Proudmoore's body and knocked Rokhan's arrow away.

Rokhan knew that he was absolutely no match for Jaina Proudmoore while she was possessed by the Sha of Despair. He gritted his teeth and looked at Anduin Wrynn and Vanessa VanCleef before finally making up his mind.

The phantom of Bwonsamdi, the Troll god of death, appeared above Rokhan's head. When the usually frivolous old Bwonsamdi saw the Sha of Despair, his blue-glowing eyes visibly narrowed.

Although Bwonsamdi was a powerful being among the Loa, defeating even one avatar of Y'Shaarj, the strongest of the Old Gods with seven heads, was extremely difficult and required a vast amount of energy. Thus, Bwonsamdi extended a hand toward Rokhan and tempted him. "Rokhan, I have seen your formidable enemy. If you wish to obtain my power, you must pay the corresponding price."
