The Mantid paragons who had slumbered in the Dread Wastes had not remained there to assist Grand Empress Shek'zeer. Instead, they had followed the Alliance High King Varian Wrynn—or rather, the Heart of Y'Shaarj—to Stormwind.

Their mission was to bring about the resurrection of Y'Shaarj, the seven-headed Old God.

"Warchief, leave these paragons to us. Go stop Varian Wrynn without worry." Though Talon King Terokk was not good with words, whenever Rend needed him, he was always the first to shoulder the burden. What had made the proud Talon King submit was entirely the aid Rend had given the Arakkoa.

Nazgrel also gripped his battle-axe and stepped beside Talon King Terokk, saying cheerfully, "The Warchief, Talon King is right. Leave these fellows to us."

It was not just the two of them. Malkorok, Ariok, Jorin Deadeye, Thura Saurfang, Alex Coldwind, Gude Grimtotem, Shadow Hunter Bokan, Asas Bleedingheart, Luminus Sunscar, and Dakulo Warfang all chose to face the powerful Mantid paragons, allowing their Warchief, Rend Blackhand, to deal directly with the Alliance High King, Varian Wrynn.

The Mantid paragons were certainly powerful, but they might not necessarily defeat the strong and brave warriors from every race of the Horde. For a time, powerful energies flared in every direction throughout the halls within Stormwind Keep.

By the time Rend reached the depths of Stormwind Keep, only a dozen or so Dark Rider Guards remained at his side. Stormwind's Royal Guards and Royal Knights had appeared continuously along the way, fighting to the death to stop him.
