Memories and Recollections

Lu Mingyu sat alone in his room, not as lively or happy as before. His expression was somewhat gloomy, and the mirror before him reflected his sorrow.

He toyed with the little device in his hand. It could project either his most painful memories or his happiest ones. Lu Mingyu knew this was also one of Tony's little inventions introduced in Captain America 3.

Lu Mingyu felt that this little device was what he needed most right now. He had been in the Marvel world for less than a week, yet he had lived happily and blissfully. There was no pressure from studying, no pressure from work, and no one to restrain him. He was like a carefree bird.

What made Lu Mingyu happiest, though, were the inexplicably acquired superpowers. He enjoyed them and treasured them.

But even so, he could not truly be happy. Perhaps his transmigration was a stroke of luck for him, but for his family, it was despair. His family had no idea where their child had gone. Even if he had been struck by lightning, there should have been a body left behind. Yet Lu Mingyu had simply vanished.

He sat on the bed as everything around him began to change. His room gradually turned into the living room from before he disappeared. Lu Mingyu's mother was cooking in the kitchen. Looking at her, he felt an inexplicable sadness. He wanted to return here. Even if he had to give up his powers, he wanted to come back. Lu Mingyu looked at the familiar room as tears fell from his eyes.

"Go to hell!" Hawkeye's arrow pierced Black Lantern Quicksilver's arm. It should have struck his head, but Black Lantern Quicksilver had actually dodged it! Hawkeye watched as Black Lantern Quicksilver's speed gradually increased, then fired three arrows in rapid succession, hoping to kill him before he fully recovered!

Today, for everyone's safety, he had to kill the "Quicksilver" before him! Their past bond flashed through Hawkeye's mind. He knew Quicksilver would never have wanted to become such a demon!

Hawkeye's fourth arrow was aimed precisely, and it carried an explosive effect. He drew the bow and released the string. The explosive arrow instantly reached Black Lantern Quicksilver, and he knew it would definitely hit.

But there were always exceptions. Black Lantern Quicksilver's speed fully recovered, and he flashed to the building below Hawkeye in an instant. His eyes were filled with killing intent, while his lips curled upward. Hawkeye knew things had gone wrong. He fired an arrow attached to a rope and swung onto another rooftop.

The instant he left, Black Lantern Quicksilver also ran to the rooftop where Hawkeye had been. Seeing Hawkeye change positions, Black Lantern Quicksilver smiled cruelly. "It's useless."

Hawkeye snorted coldly and pressed the controller in his hand. Countless electrical currents exploded across the rooftop, and a powerful surge struck Black Lantern Quicksilver's body. Seizing the opportunity, he instantly fired another arrow—one that still carried explosive damage!

Black Lantern Quicksilver roared as lightning bound him, leaving even his body unable to move. A trace of fear appeared in his eyes. At that moment, Dark Blade absorbed the lightning. Black Lantern Quicksilver dodged the attack, but the blast's aftershock knocked him off the rooftop. As he watched the ground draw closer and closer, his hands continuously spun and vibrated, forming two small tornadoes! Yes, this was Flash's power, and Lu Mingyu could use it.

Clearly, while Dark Blade provided Black Lantern Quicksilver with the Speed Force, it had also granted Lu Mingyu that ability.

Black Lantern Quicksilver quickly adjusted his posture, then landed steadily from midair with a kip-up!

This time, Hawkeye had nowhere to flee. The building beside him was simply too far away. Seeing Black Lantern Quicksilver vanish in an instant, he actually leaped directly from the rooftop of the fiftieth floor. A parachute appeared from his quiver, and just as Black Lantern Quicksilver reached the rooftop, he came up empty-handed once more!

"Is running all you can do?!" Black Lantern Quicksilver roared, directly hurling Dark Blade at Hawkeye's head.

Hawkeye pulled a heavier arrow from his quiver with his right hand, nocked it with practiced ease, drew the bow, and fired in one fluid motion!

The heavy arrow violently knocked Dark Blade off course. Dark Blade's trajectory shifted, and by sheer coincidence, it pierced through the parachute! Hawkeye began falling rapidly. There was nothing he could do—the arrow attached to a chain had become entangled in the parachute cords!

He could not pull his arrow free. An inexplicable fury erupted from within him. He had never expected that, at such a critical moment, the parachute would be what doomed him! Hawkeye was utterly helpless. He could not free his arrow, and his pupils reflected the ground rushing ever closer.

"Brother?"

A beautiful female voice came from behind Black Lantern Quicksilver. The woman had long hair, wore a dark crimson leather outfit, and her eyes revealed sorrow and remembrance. She was—Scarlet Witch.

Black Lantern Quicksilver retained some memories from before his death, so he naturally remembered this unforgettable "younger sister." He turned around and smiled. "Did you miss me?"

"I did." Scarlet Witch nodded blankly. She only knew that Hawkeye was tracking a powerful villain; she had never expected it to be her dead brother. She instinctively answered that she had missed him, but her hands never stopped moving. She halted Hawkeye's fall, then asked, "Why?"

"Because... I don't want you to play at being self-righteous gods." Black Lantern Quicksilver spoke those words instinctively, but clearly, Scarlet Witch had not been asking what he thought she was.

Tears streamed down Scarlet Witch's face. She was not asking why Quicksilver had become this way, nor was she asking why he wanted to kill people. What she wanted to ask was simply about the purest kind of emotion. "Why?"

"Why what?" Black Lantern Quicksilver knew Scarlet Witch would never attack him now, nor would she let Hawkeye attack him. After all, he was her brother. So he asked in return.

Scarlet Witch asked, "Why did you save people without hesitation back then? Why did you always protect me? Why did you join the Avengers? Why did you come back to life? Why aren't you the person you used to be? I miss you, but it isn't the you that stands before me now."

Scarlet Witch's questions were simple. In truth, she was asking only one question: why had Quicksilver become this way?

The first question was meant to make Black Lantern Quicksilver realize that he had saved people out of love.

The second question was meant to make Black Lantern Quicksilver realize that he had protected his sister out of love as well.

The third question was the same—love for Earth, love for peace, love for family. They had regarded every member of the Avengers as family.

The fourth question made Black Lantern Quicksilver wonder why he had returned to life, and whether he was still the person he used to be.

And the fifth question was the most important: why had he become this way? Was he being controlled, or had he been deceived?

Scarlet Witch looked at Black Lantern Quicksilver and waited for his answer.

The memories in Black Lantern Quicksilver's mind kept eroding away at him. All the beauty and love from before his death exploded within his mind.

The Black Lantern Ring slowly flickered, trying to suppress those memories.
