"Heh... ptooey!"
Pete cleared his throat and spat a glob of phlegm straight at the nearest thug!
After viciously flipping him the bird, Pete did not hesitate—he grabbed Gale and turned to run outside!
"Asshole! Come at me!"
The damage was minimal, but the insult was immense.
The lead thug's face turned red with rage at Pete's taunt.
He was instantly enraged.
After receiving the secret technique from those two weirdos, his already barely functional brain had become even slower. Now, only one thought remained:
He was going to kill that bastard who dared insult him!
"What are you standing around for?! Get him! Don't let him escape!"
The lead thug roared and charged forward first.
He had completely forgotten why they had come to Moni Brothers Tavern in the first place. All his attention was fixed on Pete.
"Argh! Get him!"
"Listen to the boss!"
"We can't let that bastard go! He spat in my face!"
The other four thugs howled as they followed their leader out.
Pete and Gale sprinted through the maze-like streets of the Lower District.
"Pe... Pete, what... what is going on? Is the Lower District this dangerous?"
Gale was still nearly dumbfounded.
He had never seen anything like this before!
Right off the bat, they were facing five enemies with the strength of Tier 1 professionals. Wasn't cracking down on the Bloodfang Gang a little too dangerous for him?
"I don't know why they suddenly got stronger either, but running is definitely the right move right now!"
Between breaths, Pete gave a quick explanation as he ran.
Gale looked back, his voice tense. "But it looks like they're about to catch up!"
The five thugs were barreling forward recklessly, clearly much faster than Pete and Gale.
"Don't run!"
"Stop!"
"You dare mess with the Bloodfang Gang? You've got a death wish, kid!"
"Today, we'll show you just how formidable the Bloodfang Gang is!"
With their stronger bodies, the Bloodfang Gang thugs had the advantage in this stamina-testing chase. The distance between both sides kept shrinking.
Pete focused and checked the information in his mind.
[Current win rate: 31%]
"Hang in there a little longer. Trust me, the advantage is ours!"
After turning two corners and racing through several streets, the distance between them closed again. Less than a few meters remained, close enough for them to hear the other side's heavy breathing.
This street was near various workshops in the Lower District, and many people worked here. It happened to be quitting time, so there were plenty of pedestrians coming and going. The already narrow street felt somewhat crowded.
"The Bloodfang Gang is conducting business! Anyone who doesn't want to die, move aside!"
"Out of the way! Don't block the road! Anyone who blocks us is an enemy of the Bloodfang Gang!"
The lead thug roughly thrust out his hand, using his enormous strength to shove aside pedestrians standing in his way!
Quite a few people were sent tumbling to the ground, crying out in pain.
Like a wild bull, he neither dodged nor avoided anyone, forcibly carving out a straight path through the crowded street.
Pete checked the information in his mind again.

"That alley ahead, hurry! Run in there!"
After scanning the surroundings, Pete locked onto his destination.
Gale was already gasping for breath. Hearing that, he gritted his teeth, forced out the last of his strength, and sped up as he rushed over.
The moment he entered the alley, Gale looked ahead and his face went pale.
"It's a dead end!"
The alley's exit was completely blocked by a thick stone wall.
"We can't stay here!"
Gale instinctively wanted to pull Pete out of the alley to find another way, but when he turned around, he saw the five thugs approaching with vicious grins, blocking the entrance.
"Run, then. Why'd you stop running?"
The lead thug sneered arrogantly.
"Weren't you acting all tough just now? Didn't you tell us to come at you?"
"Why aren't you talking now?"
As the five thugs steadily closed in, Pete and Gale kept backing away. But the alley was only so long, and they soon reached the wall.
Pete's expression looked as though he were forcing himself to stay calm. "You people have no sense of honor. Five against two—just using numbers to bully the few!"
One of the thugs scoffed. "What a joke!"
"Do you see anyone daring to stand up for you? Let me tell you, in the Lower District, the Bloodfang Gang's rules are the biggest. No one dares provoke the Bloodfang Gang!"
"If you don't like it, call some people yourself!"
"We definitely won't whine about people ganging up on the few like you!"
The lead thug rolled his neck, producing a series of loud cracks.
"Remember this lesson in your next life! Don't ever provoke the Bloodfang Gang again!"
As the thugs advanced step by step, Pete, who should have been completely helpless... suddenly revealed a mysterious smile.
The panic on his face vanished in an instant.
"I can call people too?"
"You said it yourself."
Before the thugs could understand what Pete meant by that—
The next second.
Dense footsteps sounded from the mouth of the alley!
One person, two people, ten people, twenty people, fifty people...
People of different builds, clothes, and ages had somehow completely surrounded the alley!
None of them spoke, but their actions were strikingly uniform:
Every one of them stared at the five Bloodfang Gang members with blazing eyes.
The thugs turned around in disbelief and instinctively threatened them.
"What do you want?!"
"The Bloodfang Gang is conducting business! Who dares interfere?!"
To the thugs' shock, the Bloodfang Gang name that had always worked like a charm only made the surrounding people's gazes burn even hotter this time!
It was as if... they were no longer the Bloodfang Gang everyone feared, but some irresistible beauty—one who had stripped naked, at that!
The thug who had spoken earlier shivered. Much of his anger faded as he asked cautiously:
"Wh... what do you want...?"
"This is dishonorable... using numbers to bully the few!"
Pete immediately laughed.
"Didn't you just say I could call whoever I wanted?"
"I preferred that unruly look you had before. How about you bring it back?"
[Current win rate: 100%]
"A friendly reminder: next time you cause trouble, you'd better not let anyone know you're from the Bloodfang Gang!"
With victory finally assured, Pete rapidly chanted a spell!
"Arcane Missiles!!!"
Whistling as they tore through the air, Arcane Missiles slammed into the thugs, opening the curtain on a "righteous beatdown"!
"These five are all Bloodfang Gang members! They've done plenty of evil before! What are you waiting for? Everyone from the Knowledge Sect, get them!"
"Settle your grudges and avenge your wrongs!"
"Every hit is profit! Justice points are calling to us!"
A fierce shout erupted from the crowd.
The one shouting was Brandon.
After several days of practice, he had now mastered how to use rage. With the knowledge points he had earned through preaching, he had also exchanged them to learn the knowledge of a Tier 1 combat skill!
Holding a crowbar, he charged in first and, without another word, greeted them with a Heroic Strike!
The thug lost his balance from the blow and nearly went down on the spot.
Seeing this, everyone else was instantly emboldened and surged forward as well!
The five thugs were instantly swallowed by the "vast sea of people"!
