Background

Shisui is the younger brother of Uchiha Shaoyu and grandson of Uchiha Kagami. Their parents died on a mission, leaving the brothers dependent on one another. As a child, Shisui studies basic ninjutsu diligently and displays alertness, discipline, and composure beyond his age. 1 10

When Shaoyu decides that Konoha's suppression of the Uchiha makes remaining there untenable, he refuses to leave Shisui behind. Shisui accepts the plan without protest, brings only his ninja tools and the short blade left by their mother, and defects with Shaoyu and the Uchiha group to Kumogakure. 9 10 11

In Kumogakure, Shisui trains under Shaoyu's direction, developing quickly through real sparring and combat experience. By thirteen, he is a registered jōnin with a Three-Tomoe Sharingan; by fifteen, he awakens the Mangekyō Sharingan during his duel with Sarutobi Shinnosuke. 71 79 139
