Background / History

Transmigration and awakening

Zheng Shaoyu, a man from Earth, transmigrated into the dying body of Uchiha Shaoyu, an eighteen-year-old Uchiha elite jōnin and grandson of Kagami Uchiha. The original Shaoyu had survived a suicidal operation against the One-Tail jinchūriki Bunpuku after disregarding clan head Uchiha Tiandao's orders; Danzō then spread a rumor accusing him of being a Sunagakure spy. His physical wounds, humiliation, and isolation led to his death. 1

The former body's final obsession was to avenge himself and protect his younger brother, Uchiha Shisui. Zheng accepted both responsibilities, and the lingering soul transformed into spiritual power that merged with him, awakening the Mangekyō Sharingan. 2

Shaoyu and Shisui were raised without their parents, who had died on a mission. 10

Defection from Konoha

Convinced that Konoha's suspicion and repression would eventually destroy the Uchiha, Shaoyu sought the support of Hawk Faction elder Uchiha Setsuna. Setsuna supplied secret arts, funds, hidden-outpost intelligence, a secret route, and trusted young Uchiha to accompany him. 6 7

Shaoyu chose Kumogakure as their destination because it valued military strength, had strong leadership, and could offer the Uchiha room to grow rather than continued marginalization. 8 He took Shisui with him rather than leave his brother vulnerable to Konoha's future control. 9

Setsuna and Tiandao concealed the organized departure by publicly framing Shaoyu as a radical who assaulted Setsuna, stole clan assets, and fled with accomplices. The deception insulated the Uchiha Clan in Konoha from immediate collective punishment. 13 15

Shaoyu is tall for an Uchiha, standing around 1.80 meters. His body is lean rather than bulky, with controlled, streamlined musculature developed through constant physical tempering and Lightning Release Nintaijutsu. 37 83

Shaoyu is calculating, composed, and intensely pragmatic. He plans around intelligence advantages, exploits political pressure, and treats strength as the foundation of security for both himself and his clan. His choice of Kumogakure, recruitment of Konoha Uchiha, and negotiations with defeated Konoha all reflect long-term strategic thinking. 8 52 162

His protective instincts are strongest toward Shisui and the Uchiha under his leadership. He accepted the former Shaoyu's duty to protect Shisui, refused to leave him in Konoha, and later promised Kumogakure's Uchiha a future free from surveillance and discrimination. 2 9 167

He is also notably ruthless. Shaoyu uses genjutsu, coercion, abduction, and manipulation when they serve his goals; he blackmailed Fugaku through Itachi, used Mei Terumi's interest to build a Kirigakure connection, and killed enemies he considered future threats. 21 86 92

Despite his discipline, Shaoyu enjoys testing himself against exceptional opponents. His long period of dominance left him bored, making the prospect of fighting Madara particularly exciting. 268
