Background / History

Josuke transmigrated into the Naruto world as Fugaku and Mikoto Uchiha’s son, born as Sasuke’s twin and Itachi’s younger brother. Though he retained general knowledge of future events, he began life without extraordinary power and was unable to prevent the Uchiha Clan’s destruction or his parents’ deaths. 1 8

As a child, he refined chakra and practiced basic Fire Release while discovering his five elemental natures. At the Ninja Academy, he befriended Rock Lee and became Might Guy’s apprentice, training in taijutsu and the Eight Gates alongside Lee. 4 9

After receiving Orochimaru’s Improved Cursed Seal, Josuke publicly defected from Konoha and joined Orochimaru. During his departure, he struck Naruto with a weakened Rasengan and claimed that his friendship had been an act, leaving Naruto and the village convinced that he had betrayed them. Konoha subsequently designated him an S-rank wanted criminal. 19 32 35

Orochimaru restored Josuke after his battle with Naruto by implanting improved Hashirama Cells. The procedure greatly increased his chakra reserves and allowed him to learn Wood Release; later, he became the pseudo-Three-Tails’ jinchūriki and formed a partnership with Xiao San. 36 56

Josuke eventually entered Akatsuki’s sphere, only to betray the organization under the guise of Tobi when the Three-Tails was targeted. He later became Otogakure’s leader despite repeatedly trying to avoid its administrative work. 61 69 81

During the Fourth Shinobi World War, Josuke fought Pain, Obito, Madara, the Ten-Tails, and the Ōtsutsuki. He was fatally wounded while saving Ino and retrieving Obito’s Rinnegan, but Xiao San’s actions and the Sage of Six Paths’ intervention allowed him to return with the Rinnegan and Six Paths power. 196 199 201
