Background / History
The Western lands were devastated in the Dao-Demon Conflict, leaving their earth veins damaged, spiritual energy thin, and many potential spiritual roots and treasures destroyed. Jieyin and Zhunti rebuilt from this decline, first entering the Mystic Gate before attaining Sagehood and leading the revival of the West. 1 4
The sect initially remained rooted in Mystic Gate doctrine despite using titles such as Buddha, Bodhisattva, and Vajra. Its eventual transformation into Buddhism requires a long-term overhaul of its teachings rather than a mere change of names. 4 57
Lu Tian joined as a direct disciple after leaving the Intercepting Sect. Jieyin and Zhunti promised that their disciples could act freely, with the two Sages willing to bear the resulting karma and personally intervene when necessary. 1 The sect’s members are united by their shared western origin and collective goal of revitalizing the West. 3

Teachings and Institutions
Three Worlds Maha Immeasurable Sutra
The sect’s foundational scripture is the Three Worlds Maha Immeasurable Sutra, a supreme scripture stated to point directly toward the Hunyuan Saint Realm. Zhunti grants it to new disciple Lu Tian upon his entry. 2
- Disciples are expected to study the scripture as their principal cultivation foundation. 2
- Jieyin and Zhunti later revise and innovate the scripture as part of the sect’s transition toward Buddhism. 57
Wrathful Vajra Method
Zhunti teaches Lu Tian the Wrathful Vajra Method, a divine ability derived from an improved Nine Revolutions Mysterious Technique. Its complete form possesses three heads, six arms, and six demon-subduing artifacts. 1 2
- Strengthens the physical body to contend with Demon Clan cultivators of the same realm. 2
- Represents the sect’s willingness to incorporate forceful, wrathful methods alongside its Buddhist development. 2 57
Art of Enlightenment Through Dreams
The Art of Enlightenment Through Dreams is regarded as the Western Teachings’ supreme secret art. Jieyin and Zhunti have developed the Dao Enlightenment in Dreams method to an exceptionally advanced level. 2 19
- Access is initially restricted until a disciple completes the Vajra Dharma Body or reaches the Taiyi Dao Fruit. 2
- The method enables collective comprehension and becomes central to the sect’s research and planning. 76
Lu's World
Lu Tian creates a dream realm later honored as the sect’s Holy Land, allowing disciples separated by great distances to discuss the Dao, spar, and share comprehension instantly. 76
- Greatly improves coordination, cultivation, and transmission of knowledge among members. 76
- Only Lu Tian can control the realm. 76
- Time acceleration is capped at ten thousandfold. 76
- It cannot bear the comprehension of a Sage. 76
Influence in the Human Race
The Western Teachings establish deep ties with the western Human Race by protecting communities during calamities, teaching cultivation, and allowing believers to spread the doctrine voluntarily. 30 68 70
Its practical arrangement is described as believers offering incense and faith while the sect provides protection and inherits karmic burdens. This produces stronger devotion than sects perceived as merely collecting Destiny without aiding mortals. 68
Fuxi’s unification of the western Human Race reveals that much of its population already follows the Western Teachings. The sect later agrees to nominally co-govern the western Human Race without directly interfering in its internal affairs. 62
- Lu Tian crowns Fuxi with the Kongtong Seal, securing the sect’s influence over the western Human Race. 63
- Chiyou receives Western Teachings methods to remove the lingering malevolent energy of his Witch Clan reincarnation. 77
- During war, outer disciples heal the wounded and ferry souls, earning praise from living beings. 70
- Zhending’s preaching as a Bodhisattva leads western humans to erect statues in his honor alongside Lu Tian’s. 88
Major Arcs
Reconstruction of the West
Lu Tian’s improvements to western cultivation methods earn Heavenly Dao Merit for both himself and Zhunti. The sect’s work to restore the West is treated as beneficial to the Primordial World’s overall development. 4
The repair of the western earth veins, aided by Houtu, restores the region ahead of expectations and grants substantial merit to the sect and Lu Tian. 47
Blood Sea and Reincarnation
Styx joins the Western Teachings after Lu Tian uses Primordial Violet Qi to settle their karma. The Blood Sea is subsequently moved west, bringing a vast surrounding territory with it. 53
The sect’s larger scheme culminates when Houtu establishes the Six Paths of Reincarnation in the West. Styx offers the Blood Sea as the land of Reincarnation and establishes the Asura Dao, while Houtu’s act revives the Earthly Dao. 54
Integration of the Dragon Clan
Lu Tian targets the Dragon Clan to fill positions in both the Underworld and the Western Teachings’ Eight Divisions of Heavenly Dragons. 74
After Ying Long surrenders, captured dragons are released: half guard the Underworld’s sea regions, while the rest enter the Eight Divisions of Heavenly Dragons. 75
Investiture of the Gods
The Western Teachings initially avoid direct involvement in the Investiture of the Gods, arguing that it is primarily an eastern matter. Its disciples may ascend the list with physical bodies rather than having their True Spirits bound. 91
The sect nevertheless seeks indirect advantages. Lu Tian and the leadership decide to use Shen Gongbao as a pawn while observing the conflict between the Heavenly Origin Sect and Intercepting Sect. 95
Later, Jieyin orders an eastward advance intended to unite the Human Race under the Western Teachings’ banner. 103
Dao Discussion Assembly
In response to growing Mystic Gate influence in the West, Lu Tian organizes a grand Dao Discussion Assembly at Two Realms Mountain. 98
Zhending represents the Western Teachings and defeats Bai He Tong Zi and Huo Ling Sheng Mu through debate. The sect’s slight victory increases its prestige and encourages followers to carry its teachings eastward. 99
