Background & History

Jieyin is one of the two Sages who lead the Western Teachings alongside Zhunti. Though the West is spiritually barren, he and Zhunti pursue its revival as a shared cause for their disciples, emphasizing mutual support among cultivators from the region 3 51.

At Spiritual Mountain, Jieyin accepts Lu Tian after the latter is rejected and tested by the eastern sects. He gifts Lu Tian a prayer bead containing the Buddha's Kingdom in the Palm, enabling the disciple's early insight into its restrictions and the creation of the Great Nirvana Art 1.

Jieyin invests heavily in Lu Tian despite his initially flawed foundation. He oversees sparring between disciples, establishes a centennial competition to improve their combat ability, arranges Lu Tian's entry into the Blood Sea Trial, and shields the method used to repair Lu Tian's foundation from Ancestor Minghe 3 10 18. When Lu Tian seeks to refine the Five Qi in the Chest, Jieyin teaches him an origin-based refinement art and exchanges the Green Lotus Treasure-Colored Banner for the Plain Cloud Boundary Banner to support his cultivation 25.

He later works with Zhunti to develop the Western Teachings beyond its Mystic Gate roots. Their revised Three Worlds Maha Immeasurable Sutra becomes a foundation for a distinct Buddhist path, which Lu Tian uses to complete his three-headed, six-armed Vajra Dharma Form 57.
