Harry and Hermione became Hogwarts’s two Triwizard champions, while Ye Ting helped the champions through the first tasks and prepared for the final maze. As Voldemort’s return loomed and the tournament reached its final stage, Ye Ting planned to use the last task to launch his campaign against Voldemort and take control of the Ministry of Magic.

• Harry was named the fourth champion, and Ye Ting discovered a Confundus Charm had altered the Goblet so it selected him as the sole candidate from a fourth school.
• The judges accepted Harry and Hermione as champions, but hostility toward Harry and his rift with Ron strained their friendship before Skeeter’s article helped them reconcile.
• Hermione faced the Swedish Short-Snout without a wand and used Dragon’s might to take its egg, while Fleur, Harry, and Krum completed the task with their own strategies.
• Ye Ting’s hints helped Hermione and Fleur solve their Golden Eggs, and he agreed to share the Yule Ball with Hermione, Cho Chang, Fleur, and Gabrielle.
• During the Black Lake task, Hermione transformed into a dragon, drove away Grindylows, and freed Cho Chang before the other champions rescued their hostages.

Hermione, Fleur, and Ye Ting followed Harry through the Triwizard Cup Portkey and witnessed Voldemort’s resurrection, then rescued Harry and exposed Barty Crouch Jr. The Ministry resisted the evidence, while Ye Ting began searching for Voldemort’s Horcruxes and led Hermione and Fleur to the Gaunt family shack.

• Hermione and Fleur helped uncover Moody as an impostor, and Ye Ting identified him as Barty Crouch Jr. before the group pursued him to the graveyard.
• Wormtail used Harry’s blood and other ingredients to restore Voldemort, who summoned the Death Eaters and challenged Harry to a duel.
• Voldemort’s Killing Curse killed Harry and destroyed the soul fragment inside him, while Ye Ting froze time and escaped with Harry, Hermione, and Fleur.
• Ye Ting returned with the others to Hogwarts and revealed Voldemort’s return, while officials found the real Moody hidden in a trunk.
• Fudge rejected the witnesses’ claims despite Snape showing him his Dark Mark, and Amelia Bones began organizing resistance within the Ministry.

Ye Ting and his companions destroyed the ring and locket Horcruxes, learning more about Voldemort’s past and Regulus Black’s sacrifice. Cho Chang and Penelope retrieved Hufflepuff’s Cup from the Lestrange vault, and the group prepared to destroy it.

• Ye Ting, Hermione, and Fleur found Marvolo Gaunt’s Ring in the Gaunt cottage, overcame its curse, and destroyed the soul fragment inside with the Infinity Blade.
• Fleur used the Resurrection Stone to summon her dead relatives, and Ye Ting explained the limits of the Hallows before the group questioned souls at Wool’s Orphanage about Voldemort’s past.
• Ye Ting, Hermione, and Fleur searched Voldemort’s cave, crossed its underground lake, and discovered that the locket in the potion basin was a fake left by R.A.B.
• The group identified R.A.B. as Regulus Black, learned from Kreacher how Regulus switched Voldemort’s locket for a fake, and recovered the real locket from the Black family collection.
• Ye Ting opened the locket with Parseltongue and destroyed its Horcrux, while Cho Chang and Penelope investigated Hepzibah Smith’s death and learned Voldemort had taken Hufflepuff’s Cup.
• Ye Ting, Penelope, and Cho Chang infiltrated Gringotts, reached the Lestrange vault, and found Hufflepuff’s Cup among its enchanted treasure.
• Cho Chang transformed into a dragon and subdued the vault’s chained fire dragon, while Ye Ting and Penelope helped free it and escape Gringotts with the Cup.
• Ye Ting, Penelope, and Cho Chang flew north with the dragon, transformed into dragons themselves, and returned home by Apparition to prepare to destroy Hufflepuff’s Cup.

Ye Ting found Ravenclaw’s Diadem, freed it from Voldemort’s soul fragment, and bound Helena Ravenclaw to it as its artifact spirit. As Madam Bones’s faction moved against the Death Eaters, Voldemort lost much of his support and decided to act sooner than planned.

• Ye Ting returned to Hogwarts with Hermione and Cho Chang, met Luna Lovegood, and learned from the Grey Lady that she knew the story of Ravenclaw’s missing diadem.
• Ye Ting used his restored Cleaning Charm to sort the Room of Requirement’s clutter, revealing Ravenclaw’s Diadem, whose influence briefly drove Cho Chang to try to seize it.
• Ye Ting sealed the diadem away and arranged for Helena Ravenclaw to replace Voldemort’s soul fragment, then burned the fragment out without damaging the relic.
• Ye Ting bound Helena to the restored diadem as its artifact spirit, and Helena performed a blood ritual that made the diadem belong to him and pledged herself to serve him.
• Ye Ting discovered that wearing Ravenclaw’s Diadem greatly improved his mental abilities, but postponed studying its full potential until after Voldemort was defeated.
• At Ye Ting’s signal, Madam Bones’s faction launched a political struggle against Fudge’s supporters, and Bones’s Aurors arrested prominent pure-blood families and sent them to Azkaban.
• Bones defended the arrests before the Wizengamot with Harry Potter’s testimony, while Dumbledore helped her maintain the advantage over Fudge.
• Voldemort lost much of his wealth, reserves, and Ministry network, abandoned his year-long buildup, and turned to rescuing his imprisoned followers and recruiting giants and centaurs.
