Background / History

Naruto first meets Jin during a barbecue feast and immediately joins him in a competitive eating contest. Despite the contempt shown by Itachi and Sasuke, Naruto is open and friendly, asking Jin to introduce everyone at the table 6.

He later attends the Konoha Ninja Academy alongside Jin, Sasuke, White, Kimimaro, and Hinata. Naruto mistakes Sasuke for Jin and accidentally kisses him, then recognizes his error when Jin arrives 48.

After graduating, Naruto joins Kakashi’s Team 7 with Sasuke and Sakura. Jin reveals that Naruto is the son of the Fourth Hokage, Minato Namikaze, and urges him to surpass his father 157.

Personality

Naruto is outspoken, impulsive, and intensely competitive. He openly admires Jin, calls him “Boss,” and repeatedly challenges him through eating contests and displays of strength 43 143.

Although he is initially frightened by real combat, Naruto recovers by reaffirming his goal of becoming Hokage and protecting Konoha 164. His determination can become recklessness: after Madara steals Kakashi’s Sharingan, Naruto ignores orders and pursues him alone for revenge 179.

Chunin Exams and Sasuke’s Departure

Naruto defeats Kiba and Neji during the Chunin Exams. When Sasuke leaves Konoha under the pretense of joining Orochimaru, Naruto leads the pursuit and battles him at the Valley of the End, but fails to bring him back 169 170.

Sage Training and Pain

Madara Crisis
