History

Uchiha crisis and internal unrest

Danzo secretly arranged for Akatsuki to target the Uchiha Clan, intending to weaken Konoha's internal rivals and advance his own ambition for the Hokage position 10 21. After public unrest damaged his reputation, Danzo resigned from the Elder Council and surrendered his authority 11.

Konoha narrowly avoided a full confrontation with the Uchiha Clan. The Third Hokage offered Uchiha Fuchiu terms: if the clan abandoned any coup attempt, it would remain recognized as one of Konoha's founding clans, while Itachi would be blamed publicly for the crisis 31.

Following the incident, the Uchiha Clan was divided. Jin led fifty elite households into a branch family with thirty percent of the clan's assets, while Sasuke remained heir to the main family 33.

Rise of the Jin Clan

Jin established the Jin Clan in Konoha around fifty war orphans, awakening Sharingan in forty children and transplanting Sharingan into the remaining ten 36. The clan became a notable force within the village during Jin's three years of secluded ninjutsu research, drawing the attention of Konoha's major clans and ordinary residents alike 43.

Conflict with the Land of Lightning

Konoha's dispute with the Land of Lightning escalated after an attempted abduction of Hinata Hyuga. Jin demanded compensation from Lightning's envoys, while the Third Hokage and Konoha's major clans publicly backed his position 46 47.

After Konoha captured Kumogakure's Two-Tails jinchūriki, the Third Hokage dispatched fifty elite shinobi under Jin's temporary command to secure Jin's team and the prisoner 65. The resulting confrontation involved Konoha's forces, Jiraiya, Tsunade, Kumogakure's Raikage, and the Eight-Tails' jinchūriki 70 71.

The later settlement awarded 120 million ryō: 40 million to the Land of Fire's Daimyō, 20 million to Konoha, 30 million to Hinata, 20 million to Jin, and the remainder to participating Konoha shinobi 82.

Fourth Shinobi World War

A coalition of four great nations subsequently declared war on the Land of Fire, prompting the Third Hokage to mobilize Konoha's shinobi 82 83. Jin took responsibility for confronting the Land of Lightning, while Jiraiya and Tsunade were assigned to other fronts 83.

When the enemy armies besieged Konoha, the Third Hokage transferred full military and political authority to Jin as the Fifth Hokage 127. Konoha repelled the invading forces within three days, inflicting severe losses while sustaining comparatively minor casualties 132.

One month later, the Third Hokage formally stepped down and Jin was elected Fifth Hokage at eight years old 132.

Destruction and reconstruction

Pain later destroyed Konoha while much of its elite force was away on missions 171. Reconstruction took more than a year, during which Jin developed the Spatial Forbidden Technique Barrier to prevent large-scale ninjutsu use and restrict enemy movement 173.

After a year of construction, the completed fortresses formed Konoha's expanded defensive network. Earth Castle, Water Castle, and Jin's Castle also functioned as a triangular defensive formation 134.

Economic growth

Konoha's prestige after the Fourth Shinobi World War increased its mission volume and doubled its income 134. Jin also built a town beneath Jin's Castle to support the World Ninja Ranking Tournament, offering facilities for arriving shinobi and a total prize pool of 500 million ryō 135.
