Background / History
Origin in the Primordial World
Shi Mo awakens as a consciousness inside a stone pillar in a cave of West Kunlun. The pillar was formed from the spiritual bones of a fallen Chaos Divine Demon, leaving him with both a Chaos Divine Demon legacy and an affinity for earth-vein power. He begins refining a jade-like body from earth-vein spiritual energy, later discovering the Wind-Fixing Pearl and an Ice Lotus in his cave. 1
His transformation lightning tribulation remakes him from a stone pillar into a white-robed human. The final lightning strike nearly shatters his body, but earth-vein energy repairs the cracks left across him. 3 4
Shi Mo settles at Nine Tripod Iron Fork Mountain, where he studies and repairs earth veins, develops formations, and cultivates the Flat Peach Mother Tree. His attempt to study the stars brings him into conflict with Ji Meng and Kunpeng, beginning a long hostility with the Monster Clan. 16 18
Conflict with the Monster Clan
Shi Mo creates the Heavenly Stellar Formation by drawing upon stellar power. Although Di Jun destroys his first formation, Shi Mo reconstructs it with miniature stars refined from stellar meteoritic iron and forges the Heavenly Stellar Cloud Sword. 18
Di Jun seeks the formation for the Heavenly Court, while Shi Mo demands innate treasures and materials in exchange. He spends ten thousand years establishing a massive stellar formation in the Heavenly Court, all while both sides suspect the other intends betrayal. 24 26 27
The conflict turns open when Kunpeng ambushes Shi Mo. Protected by the Earth Book, Shi Mo becomes a colossal stone giant and channels the Primordial World's earth-vein energy to repel Kunpeng. The Monster Clan’s later use of the Chaos Bell fails to intimidate him, and his revealed Chaos Fiend identity forces both the Monster Clan and the Ancestral Witches to reassess him. 28 37 38
Builder, Merchant, and Protector
Shi Mo turns his formations toward cultivation, trade, and the protection of living beings. He farms millet with Zhen Yuanzi and Hongyun, establishes fisheries throughout the Four Seas, and founds thirty-six Eight Treasures Cloud Light Pavilions that provide trade and long-distance travel. The pavilions earn him substantial merit for contributing to the Primordial World's prosperity. 35 51 55
His Earth Vein Formation eventually spans the Primordial Continent and reaches the Four Seas through the Eight Treasures Cloud Light Pavilions. When activated, it sends Wu Clan experts and Ancestral Witches flying, proving stronger than the Heavenly Stellar Formation in Di Jun’s estimation. 79 81
After witnessing the Wu Clan’s slaughter, Shi Mo defines his Dao as protecting the Primordial World's living beings. This realization allows him to sever his self corpse and become a Two-Corpse Quasi-Sage. 82
Sainthood and the Asura Clan
Shi Mo’s conflict with Old Ancestor Minghe ends with Styx’s death and Shi Mo’s seizure of the Blood Sea’s source energy. His evil-corpse incarnation, Red Lotus Daoist, studies Styx’s swords and the Dao of slaughter, eventually becoming a Saint with Shi Mo’s assistance. 91 92 103
Shi Mo later creates the Asura Clan and establishes the Asura Sect, personally naming Mara, Uma, Brahma, Indra, and Ghost Mother as its leading members. He uses the Blood Sea and Earth Vein Formation to create islands, palaces, and residences for the new race. 105
His true body subsequently becomes a Saint through physical refinement, achieving a body comparable to an innate supreme treasure. 178
Pangu World
Shi Mo secretly leaves the Primordial World and enters Pangu World, where he is recognized as an Empyrean God. He joins the Fire God Kingdom after meeting Pan and Jiufeng, then studies its qi-refinement, body-refinement, and divine-ability methods. Dissatisfied with their limitations, he develops methods suited to his own body and cultivation. 180 182 184 185
During the war between the Fire and Water Kingdoms, Shi Mo breaks through to True God and defeats Wu Zhiqi. His strength earns the regard of Zhurong, who entrusts him with a border defense and the Red Fire Lotus Platform. 186 188
His travels and discussions with Three Lives and Dao Ancestor Zhenyuan lead him to fully comprehend the Earth Dao. Later, during the effort to mend the sky after Mount Buzhou collapses, he comprehends multiple Heavenly Daos and becomes an Ancestral God. 193 197
Three Realms and Biyou Palace
In the Great Chang World, Shi Mo forms a body from star sand around his Starstone true body and becomes the new owner of Nine Mountains Island. He meets Qin Yun, protects the Great Chang World from demonic threats, and eventually joins Biyou Palace under Lingbao Tianzun. 214 215 220
At Biyou Palace, he advances rapidly, nurtures a source divine weapon, and completes trials by killing heavily sinful Heavenly Devils and Heavenly Monsters. He later kills Quifu and Palace Master Kui Shi, exposing the existence of his hundred-zhang Starstone true body. 220 221
Shi Mo and Qin Yun subsequently eradicate demonic strongholds across the Three Realms, earn immense merit, and receive rewards from Lingbao Tianzun. Shi Mo reaches Great Dao Perfection, develops formidable karma, spacetime, and heartforce methods, and becomes one of the Three Realms’ most feared great powers. 223 224 226
