Background / History

Nuwa became Hongjun's final disciple at Zixiao Palace. Hongjun granted her a Sage seat, Primordial Violet Qi, the Red Embroidered Ball, and the Mountains and Rivers State Map 22.

She shared a Daoist sanctuary on Mount Buzhou with her elder brother, Fuxi. Nuwa initially refused to involve herself with the Demon Race Heavenly Court, but Fuxi eventually joined it after Dijun and Taiyi repeatedly courted the siblings; Nuwa later became the Heavenly Court's Wa Sovereign 30 42. Her loyalty to Fuxi remained her central concern even after attaining Sainthood.

As the Witch–Demon conflict escalated, Nuwa tried to avert war and met privately with Xuanming. She ultimately accepted that the war could not be stopped, but secretly left protections for both Fuxi and Xuanming rather than abandon either of them to the conflict 46 81 86.

Creation of the Human Clan

Nuwa's Primordial Violet Qi stirred when her mastery of the Dao of Creation surpassed ninety percent, signaling that her opportunity for Sainthood had arrived. She spent fifty thousand years experimenting with new forms of life, deepening her command of creation to ninety-five percent but failing to find the race that would complete her path 60.

After Bai Jing gave her a branch of the Enlightenment Tea Tree, Nuwa perfected the Dao of Creation, severed her benevolent and evil incarnations, and merged herself with its laws. Following Bai Jing's advice, she did not immediately prove the Dao of the Golden Immortal of Primordial Unity; instead, she resolved to create a race modeled on Pangu's innate Dao body 62.

Her initial attempt to animate ordinary life-rich soil produced only an empty shell. Bai Jing advised her to use Nine Heavens Divine Soil and Three Lights Divine Water. With these materials, Nuwa created the first human and then personally molded three thousand humans 63.

She later used the Primordial Gourd Vine to scatter and animate mud formed from Nine Heavens Divine Soil and Three Lights Divine Water, creating one hundred twenty-nine thousand six hundred humans. Their reverence as her “Holy Mother” fulfilled her merit and enabled her to attain the Dao and become a Saint 64.

Human Dao

Nuwa protected the newly created Human Clan by decreeing that no being could harm them for one yuanhui. She settled them at Mount Shouyang, surrounding the mountain with a thousand-year restriction so they could develop independently 65 66.

While officiating the Heavenly Marriage of Dijun and Xihe, Nuwa directly perceived the will of the Human Dao for the first time. The marriage strengthened her connection to it and confirmed her resolve to develop the Human Dao as a force equal in status to the Heavenly Dao 77.

After learning that her thoughts had been subtly influenced and that her creation merit had dispersed among living beings, Nuwa opened Wa Sovereign Heaven and Nuwa Palace to resolve her saintly karmic ties on her own terms 69. She continued to support the Human Clan as it grew into a major force, promising them her protection when they chose to resist Heavenly Dao control 128 129.

When Zhuanxu severed heaven and earth and revived the Human Dao, Nuwa expelled Primordial Violet Qi from her sea of consciousness and destroyed the divine soul she had entrusted to the Heavenly Dao. She then united with the Human Dao, becoming its ruler and breaking free of the Heavenly Dao's direct control 221 222 227.

Appearance

Nuwa normally assumes the perfected innate Dao body of an innate divine being. When repairing the sky, she revealed a colossal true form that stood between heaven and earth 123.

Nuwa is compassionate toward life and particularly devoted to the Human Clan she created. She treats injured Witch Clan members despite the Witch–Demon War, protects humanity through decrees and restrictions, and personally restores the Human Clan's ancestral land when Saint-level combat threatens it 52 65 182.

Her kindness does not make her passive. Nuwa is decisive in pursuing her own Dao, rejects Heavenly Dao control, and is willing to confront stronger opponents for the Human Clan's independence. She also places exceptional importance on family: her choices regarding the Demon Race, Heavenly Marriage, Fuxi's reincarnation, and the Holy Lotus World-Purifying Formation are repeatedly shaped by her wish to protect her elder brother and humanity 67 173 186.

Spirit Pearl's death reveals the severity of Nuwa's wrath when those under her protection are harmed. She annihilates Mount Sumeru and kills the Western Teaching's disciples and Saints before challenging Heavenly Dao Hongjun directly 270.
