Background / History
Hawkes began as the lead heavy-armored knight among Taylor's earth-elemental puppets. At this stage, he and his troops could express loyalty and execute flexible commands, but their cognition remained limited. Taylor later named the leader Hawkes. 70
Taylor subsequently remade Hawkes into a construct puppet forged from magical metals. His reconstruction incorporated wizard-plane construct theory, enchantments and sorcery runes, Zombie Plane Magic Mechs, and ranged-weapon enchantment techniques. 101 106
Unlike the other early Achilles Warriors—who were intelligent programs with recognition capabilities—Hawkes was fully awakened with the soul of a Rank 1 wizard. This gave him genuine self-awareness and established him as the Achilles Warriors' unquestioned leader. 118
Appearance
Hawkes is a towering, fully metallic knight whose heavy armor and weaponry make him resemble a purpose-built weapon of war. His presence is imposing enough to make trained S.H.I.E.L.D. agents instinctively reach for their weapons. 112
- Entire body forged from precious magical metals, including Damascus steel, magic copper, and obsidian. 106
- Thick pauldrons, exceptionally heavy leg armor, and reinforced knee joints. 106
- Breastplate bears a three-headed dragon with spread wings; shoulder guards and knee armor carry dragon-head emblems. 106
- Magical-alloy belt marked with a heptagram insignia. 106
- Back-mounted energy-ore pack with three exhaust vents, allowing continued operation in areas lacking magical elements. 106
- Later wears numerous medals, a golden dragon-head cape, and carries the Thunder Greatsword. 346
Personality
Hawkes is stoic, direct, and intensely devoted to Taylor. He views himself as his master's weapon and seeks greater strength so that he can remain useful, declaring that he wants to become Taylor's “sharpest battle blade.” 165 173
His pursuit of strength is uncomplicated: he rejects environmental or external amplification as “false” strength and values a stronger body and a greater battlefield role. 165 He is also pragmatic in command, prioritizing the preservation of Achilles Warriors when an objective becomes too dangerous. 232 233
Although usually restrained, Hawkes is ruthless toward anyone who defies Taylor's will. He warned Port Royal's naval forces before acting, but responded to their gunfire with a massacre. 179 He also shows approval for courage, particularly when Kidd and Sally Valen stood against him despite their fear. 213 214
Abilities & Skills
Construct Physiology
Hawkes possesses an indestructible magical-metal body designed for sustained combat.
- His body and Achilles Heavy Armor possess durability, magic-nullifying, and self-healing properties. 118
- He can crush a car door into a metal ball, tear apart a sedan, and rescue trapped passengers with his bare hands. 106
- His energy pack sustains his combat capability even in environments without magical elements. 106
- His base construct body cannot naturally control elements. 118
- Later rune enhancements allow him to command golden electricity. 352
Melee Combat
Hawkes is a battle-hardened close-combat fighter with exceptional strength, durability, and weapon control.
- Uses a Chainsword capable of shredding magical beasts and enemies at close range. 160
- His Chainsword could be enhanced to release blue-green Wind Blade slashes capable of splitting distant hills. 132 133
- Fought two Radiant Lion Kings at once; their coordination could restrain him despite his superior strength and durability. 158
- Defeated Hulk in a controlled spar by redirecting Hulk's increasing strength and knocking him from the designated arena. 169
- Temporarily matched a second-rank pureblood demon during the Abyss war. 234
Ranged Firepower
Hawkes commands heavy magical firearms alongside his melee arsenal.
- Carries a heavy Bolter for ranged combat. 124
- Later used a triple-barreled rapid-fire magical Bolter mounted beneath his elbow. 232
- Achilles Bolters were significantly weakened when suppressed by the light element during the battle against the Radiant Lions. 158
- Later Achilles equipment included explosive, plasma, particle, and spatial black-hole weaponry. 296
Tactical Command
Hawkes leads the Achilles Legion through direct battlefield command, force assessment, and mission planning.
- Led heavy-armored knights in swiftly defeating black wizard apprentices boarding Taylor's airship. 95
- Directed the reclamation of the Greenleaf Kingdom's remaining cities and personally guarded its spatial-sand collection. 133
- Ordered a strategic withdrawal from Boulder City after recovering Bali's squad, intending to conserve forces and use the insect-men as a future defensive line against Abyss demons. 232 233
- Evaluates captains' strengths and weaknesses, assigning Bali's tactical squad to investigate border cities while keeping Vise's squad in reserve. 222
- Organized the Achilles Legion into warbands so veteran warriors could lead and develop new recruits. 307
Administration and Reconstruction
Hawkes develops non-combat skills to reduce Taylor's burdens.
- Oversaw the absorption and resettlement of the conquered Thunder Elemental Elves alongside Ship Mind. 305
- Directed fortress, town, production-zone, and industrial construction across the Thunder Elemental Elf Plane. 305
- Made economic development, industrial construction, and administration mandatory studies for Achilles Warriors. 305

Story Role / Major Arcs
Formation and Early Service
Hawkes led Taylor's heavy-armored knights during the defense of Taylor's airship, helping eliminate four black wizard apprentices who attempted to board. 95 After being remade as a magical-metal construct, he served as Taylor's armored guard in the Marvel Universe and escorted S.H.I.E.L.D. representatives through Silver Castle. 106 112
Folded Plane Campaign
Taylor deployed Hawkes and fifty Achilles Warriors to the Greenleaf Kingdom, where they reclaimed twelve cities and secured elemental and spatial resources. 132 133 During the later planar war, Hawkes commanded ground forces against the Radiant Lions and fought the two Lion Kings. 157 158
When Taylor was severely injured after battle, Hawkes led the Achilles Warriors in killing the magical beasts attempting to devour him, then established a defensive guard around the crater where Taylor lay. 160
Port Royal Operation
Hawkes helped Taylor establish a temporary base in Port Royal by cleaning and securing a purchased manor. 177 He later seized Jack Sparrow from Commodore Norrington's custody, slaughtering naval soldiers and guards after they opened fire on his force. 179
Recruitment of Taylor's Apprentices
Acting on Taylor's behalf, Hawkes reviewed the records of more than 1,100 wizard apprentices and selected Maken, Sally Valen, and Kidd Valen as promising candidates. 212 He personally retrieved them, testing Kidd and Sally's courage before bringing them to Taylor for evaluation. 213 214
Boulder City and the Abyss War
Hawkes deployed Bali's tactical squad to investigate Boulder City, then personally entered the city with Kano when the force encountered the Sufferers Sect insect-men. 222 232 He split Boulder City with a massive lightning-infused slash, rescued Bali's squad, and ordered a strategic retreat. 232
During the demon invasion that followed, Hawkes led more than 850 Achilles Warriors at the front of the puppet army and fought a second-rank pureblood demon while Kano faced another. 233 234
Expansion of the Achilles Legion
During Taylor's interplanar expansion, Hawkes remained focused on future high-value engagements while Sargeras sought glory through more reckless displays of power. 298 302 After the Thunder Elemental Elves' defeat, Hawkes supervised their resettlement, resource development, industrial construction, and governance. 305 306
He later drafted the Achilles Codex, creating the Star Knights, Nova Warriors, and Dawnwatch warbands under veteran commanders. Taylor formally approved the plan. 307
