Background / History

Origin and separation from Taylor

Kano was born alongside Bobby as one of Taylor's alternate personalities. Whereas Bobby embodied Taylor's laziness and reluctance, Kano condensed his destructive impulses: bloodlust, irritability, dark thoughts, and the urge to dissect or massacre others. From the beginning, Kano criticized Taylor as weak and spoke of unifying wizard civilization and the endless worlds. 32

Taylor initially intended Kano to handle the tasks he considered too dark: sabotage, massacres, and large-scale dissections for experimental materials. Kano instead took responsibility for flame sorcery research, focusing on increasing its destructive and explosive properties. 32 37

During the Merfolk Plane campaign, Taylor transferred Kano into a magic-mechanical body, allowing him to perceive the world independently for the first time. Though the construct initially provided only sight and hearing, Kano regarded even this limited autonomy as a new life. 39 40

Merfolk Plane operations

Kano infiltrated the Merfolk Plane in the guise of a red-robed fishman sage. He identified One-Horn, the neglected brother of a tribal chieftain, as a useful pawn and encouraged him to use his mind-controlling horn to gain power and followers. 44 49 50

His intended rebellion failed because the wizards conquered the plane before it could begin. Kano gathered the surviving merfolk and surrendered them to Taylor, openly frustrated that his elaborate plan had become meaningless. 56

Afterward, Kano received command of the puppet legion and the conquered merfolk. He and Bobby transformed the tribes into a kingdom loyal to wizards: Kano suppressed dissent and imposed faith, while Bobby improved production and living conditions. 57 77 78

Infiltration and control across worlds

In the Marvel Universe, Kano received a humanlike flesh-puppet body and began building an intelligence network. He infiltrated organizations from gangs and police departments to government agencies and S.H.I.E.L.D., controlling operatives by altering memories, erasing self-awareness, and constructing replacement identities with mental power and the Spider's Eye. 105 140

Kano led attacks against vampires, captured Blade for research, and sought the vampire lair and the Blood God. His subordinates, including Luke Cage and Jessica, overpowered Blade before Kano and Taylor used him to study vampire symbols and bloodline abilities. 115 116 117

Blood Dimension and plane wars

After Taylor defeated the Blood God, Kano took control of the Blood Dimension. He considered the Blood God's use of the realm wasteful and regarded it as better suited for executions and slaughter than worship. 290

Kano later confronted Mephisto directly, using the Blood Dimension and a linked Sanctum formation to protect Earth and enforce Taylor's agreement with the demon god. 303

Following the creation of the Five Hundred Worlds Blueprint, Kano became commander-in-chief of the plane-war forces headquartered at Aokelius Tower. He oversees warbands, fleets, military supplies, deployments, and the suppression of conquered planes. 320
