Background
Tang Hao was born into the Clear Sky Sect as Tang Chen’s grandson and Tang Xiao’s younger brother. Even as a child, he was regarded as one of the sect’s exceptional successors, alongside Tang Xiao. 21 22
At the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan’s Seven Sect Conference, he defeated every youth of his age present and openly challenged Yang Dong for a duel. His confidence was founded on an undefeated record among his peers, but Yang Dong ultimately overcame him by reaching the Fifth Slash of Three-Stage Slash. 23 26
Tang Hao accepted the defeat, though he immediately declared that he would win a future rematch. The loss became the basis for a lasting rivalry and friendship with Yang Dong. 27 35
Appearance
When Yang Dong reunited with him years later in Holy Soul Village, Tang Hao no longer resembled the spirited Clear Sky Sect prodigy of his youth. He was living as an inconspicuous blacksmith after Ah Yin’s death. 229
- Filthy face and clothes. 229
- Gray, dispirited eyes. 229
- Initially appeared to be an ordinary, dejected middle-aged man despite his status as Haotian Douluo. 229
Personality
Tang Hao is blunt, combative, and intensely proud of both himself and the Haotian Hammer. As a youth, he dismissed weaker opponents, challenged Yang Dong without hesitation, and refused to retreat even when facing a disadvantage inside Yang Dong’s Blade Soul formation. 23 25
His pride does not prevent him from recognizing strength. After losing to Yang Dong, he admitted the result and treated Yang Dong as an equal, later introducing him to his classmates as someone who had defeated him. 27 36
He is fiercely loyal to family. He refused to abandon Tang Xiao after his brother was gravely injured, volunteered to expose an ambush so Yang Dong could bring Tang Xiao to safety, and later centered his life around his children after Ah Yin’s death. 33 229 230
Abilities & Skills
Haotian Hammer
Tang Hao’s Martial Soul is the Haotian Hammer, a powerful tool-type Martial Soul suited to direct assault and overwhelming force. 24 25
- Uses the hammer in close-quarters combat with a highly aggressive style. 24 25
- Its power allowed him to force Yang Dong back in their first direct clash. 24
- He could expend all remaining Soul Power on a decisive hammer strike amplified beyond his usual output. 25
Shocking Hammer
Tang Hao’s First Soul Skill creates a shockwave through the Haotian Hammer, extending the effective range of his attacks. 24
- Can threaten opponents beyond the hammer’s immediate striking distance. 24
- Was combined with Strength Amplification as his decisive attack against Yang Dong. 25
- Was used again against Old Xun while attempting to protect the severely wounded Tang Xiao. 32
Strength Amplification
Tang Hao’s Second Soul Skill enhances his hammer’s offensive force. 25
- Can be activated alongside Shocking Hammer. 25
- Enlarged the Haotian Hammer to more than twice its normal size during his duel with Yang Dong. 25
- Drained nearly all of his remaining Soul Power when used at full force. 25
Chaotic Wind Hammer Technique
Tang Hao employs the Clear Sky Sect’s Chaotic Wind Hammer Technique in combat. 25
- Used it to exchange sustained blows with Yang Dong inside the Blade Soul formation. 25
- Tang Chen later demonstrated the technique to Tang Hao and Tang Xiao when Tang Hao considered practicing swordsmanship instead. 41
Combat Leadership
Tang Hao was selected as captain of Haotian Soul Master Academy’s tournament team because Bai Jiajia believed the role would develop his leadership potential for the Clear Sky Sect’s future. 51
- Learned the danger of treating team battles as one-on-one duels after being controlled and swiftly defeated by the Gale Team. 47 48
- Defeated three Blazing Fire Academy opponents consecutively in the Heaven Dou Ranking Tournament. 57
- Fought alongside Tang Xiao and Yang Dong against Old Xun, directing his strongest available attack at the enemy after Tang Xiao was injured. 32
Relationships
- Tang Xiao — Elder brother and longtime battle partner. Tang Hao refused to abandon Tang Xiao after he was critically wounded and later remained close to him despite their differing temperaments. 21 32 33
- Tang Chen — Grandfather and former Clear Sky Sect leader. Tang Chen’s influence and protection shaped Tang Hao’s status within the sect. 21 58 79
- Yang Dong — Began as Tang Hao’s rival after their duel, then became a trusted friend and equal. Tang Hao later entrusted Tang San’s instruction to Yang Dong. 24 27 230 231
- Ah Yin — Beloved partner. Ah Yin ultimately chose Tang Hao over Tang Xiao; by Tang Hao’s later life in Holy Soul Village, she had died, driving his desire for revenge. 140 229
- Tang San — Biological son with Ah Yin. Tang Hao encouraged him to learn from Yang Dong and carefully instructed him not to attach Soul Rings to his Haotian Hammer before reaching Title Douluo. 230 269
- Tang Yin and Tang Tang — Adopted sons raised alongside Tang San in Holy Soul Village. 229 231
- Old Jack — Holy Soul Village’s chief. Though initially critical of Tang Hao’s parenting and idleness, Old Jack later trusted him enough to seek his help protecting the village’s gifted children. 270 271
- Bai Jiajia — Teacher and coach who appointed Tang Hao captain of Haotian Soul Master Academy’s tournament team. 36 51
Story Role / Major Arcs
First Clash with Yang Dong
Tang Hao challenged Yang Dong at the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan’s training ground, confident that the Haotian Hammer could overcome a support-type opponent. He pushed Yang Dong to his limit with Shocking Hammer and Strength Amplification, but was defeated when Yang Dong completed the Fifth Slash. 24 26
Spirit Hunting Forest Ambush
Tang Hao, Tang Xiao, and Yang Dong fought Old Xun together. After Tang Xiao was severely injured, Tang Hao attacked with his combined Soul Skills to create an opening for Yang Dong’s eventual victory. 32
When Yang Dong suspected an ambush outside the forest, Tang Hao volunteered to investigate. After being captured, he deliberately referred to his captor as “Scarface Uncle,” transmitting a warning to Yang Dong. 33
Haotian Soul Master Academy Tournament
Tang Hao welcomed Yang Dong into Haotian Soul Master Academy and publicly acknowledged Yang Dong’s victory over him. 36
He joined the academy’s seven-person tournament roster as a level 56 Soul King and was later named captain. Although his overconfidence contributed to an early defeat against the Gale Team, he improved as a team fighter and demonstrated his arena strength by defeating three Blazing Fire Academy members in succession. 43 48 51 57
Life in Holy Soul Village
After Ah Yin’s death, Tang Hao withdrew to Holy Soul Village, where he worked as a blacksmith and raised Tang San along with adopted children Tang Yin and Tang Tang. His primary goal became avenging Ah Yin himself rather than accepting Yang Dong’s help. 229 230
He supported Tang San’s cultivation, revealed the importance of Tang San’s Haotian Hammer, and ordered all three boys to prioritize their primary Martial Souls until they reached the Title Douluo stage. 269
Departure to the Abyss World
Tang Hao later left with Chen Xin for the Abyss World. Ten years afterward, Tang San told Yang Dong that there had been no news of his father during that period. 336

“I, Tang Hao, have never really been afraid of much in my life.” 270
Trivia
