"Choji, this is for you!"

"Really..." Choji could not believe it at all.

"It smells so good..."

Choji put a piece of barbecue into his mouth, and his entire soul practically ascended to heaven!

"Delicious! I've never eaten anything this good!"

He tossed aside his chips and began wolfing it down.

He had a natural talent for food streaming, and soon everyone else was drooling at the sight.

Even Shikamaru, who had been lying on his desk listlessly, sat up.

"Chiye Jun, you're definitely my friend now!" Choji said.

"My name's Kiba Inuzuka. You're definitely my friend too!"

Food diplomacy had worked!

Chiye Jun had gained two more friends.

Kiba's personality was somewhat similar to Naruto's, so he decided to celebrate making new friends with a group meal.

When Choji heard about the gathering, he readily agreed and invited Shikamaru.

Naruto called Sakura and dragged Sasuke along.

Sasuke had not wanted to join in the fun, but he asked, "Is Chiye Jun... going too?"

"Of course he is!" Naruto said with a grin.

Only then did Sasuke nod in agreement.

Sakura brought Ino along too.

Kiba invited Shino.

Finally, Chiye Jun took the shy Hinata with him.

Thus, nine of Konoha's twelve rookie stars had gathered!

The meal was held at Kiba's house.

A barbecue feast!

The gathering was exceptionally lively. Chiye Jun gradually established connections with the rookie stars and blended in with them.

They should probably be called the Ten Rookie Stars now.

"By the way, how about we give our little group a name?"

Naruto was the happiest as he made the suggestion.

It had been a long time since everyone had invited him to eat with them.

And so, the little organization's name was decided.

One image after another appeared in his mind. It was practically an evolved version of the Byakugan, and Chiye Jun quickly stopped the skill.

When he returned home that night, the room was somewhat stuffy.

He pushed open the window and felt the cool night breeze.

"Huh?"

The wind seemed to carry a faint scent of blood.

He got dressed and immediately jumped out the window.

As he drew closer to the target, the smell of blood grew stronger.

After several bounds through the trees, Chiye Jun finally found the source of the blood.

Two corpses lay silently beneath a large tree.

Blood had seeped into the soil.

Chiye Jun pulled out a mask from his space and put it on before crouching down.

Both corpses wore patterned masks.

They were dressed in identical black outfits.

Root members!

Their necks had been pierced by some sharp weapon, leaving finger-thick bloody holes that were grotesque and horrifying.

"It doesn't look like shuriken or kunai, nor is it senbon... What exactly caused their deaths?"

Suddenly!

A gust of sinister wind swept in from behind Chiye Jun.

The leaves knocked down from the trees rustled loudly, especially piercing in the silent night.

With a thud!

Chiye Jun shouted sharply, "Who's over there? Come out now, I saw you!"

Yet the sound disappeared.

Just then, beneath the pitch-black night sky, two hazy, gleaming eyes appeared ahead.

Like the grim eyes of a ghost!

Their gazes met, and Chiye Jun could clearly hear his own heart pounding...
