Background / History

Naruto attends the Ninja Academy but is widely dismissed as the class dead last. He is mocked when he declares his ambition to become Hokage, and he struggles with techniques such as the Clone Technique 6 18.

He quickly befriends transfer student Chiye Jun. Unlike the other students, Chiye Jun supports Naruto's Hokage dream and tells him that he will become the Seventh Hokage 6. The two regularly eat at Ichiraku Ramen, work together on pranks and system missions, and remain close after graduating 8 13 26.

During Mizuki's attempt to steal the Forbidden Scroll, Naruto learns that the Nine-Tails is sealed inside him and falls into despair. Chiye Jun and Iruka help him regain his resolve; Naruto then uses the Multiple Shadow Clone Technique to defeat Mizuki 20.

After graduating, Naruto joins Kakashi Hatake's Team 7 alongside Chiye Jun, Sasuke Uchiha, and Sakura Haruno. Though impulsive during the bell test, he participates in rescuing Chiye Jun and Sasuke and helps demonstrate the team's willingness to cooperate 22 24 25.

Naruto is loud, impulsive, competitive, and eager for recognition. He frequently argues with Sasuke, reacts strongly to perceived slights, and treats difficult missions as exciting adventures 13 23 37.

Despite being ostracized by villagers, he remains resilient and optimistic. He values his friends deeply, worries for Chiye Jun when Root confronts him, and joins Sasuke in rescuing Kakashi from Zabuza's Water Prison 10 41.

He is also creative and mischievous. His altered Hokage Rock prank and humorous Hokage shadow clones impress Chiye Jun, while his eagerness to show off his Hokage cloak results in it being banned 13 14 33.
