Naruto graduates from the Ninja Academy and passes Kakashi Hatake's bell test alongside Sasuke Uchiha and Sakura Haruno, forming Team 7. He is immediately dissatisfied with the team's D-rank work, especially cat-catching and errand missions, because he wants challenges worthy of his ambition to become Hokage. 1 8 18

He grew up alone and does not remember his parents. When Kakashi asks about them, Naruto admits he has never seen them, then conceals his sadness behind a forced smile. 6 His recurring dreams give him the family life he lacks: Minato Namikaze and Kushina Uzumaki appear as his father and mother, offering affection, meals, guidance, and encouragement. 10 11 19

The dreams also become the source of Naruto's Rasengan training.
