The carriage traveled swiftly, reaching the capital of the Heaven Dou Empire, Heaven Dou City, in the shortest possible time.
After entering the city, Jiang Qingyu, who had been resting with his eyes closed, heard the bustling clamor of people.
"Candied hawthorns for sale!"
"Roasted sweet potatoes for sale!"
"Delicious roast duck for sale!"
The cries of vendors rose and fell without end.
Jiang Qingyu looked out through the carriage window. Entering through the eastern city gate led directly to a street lined with snacks.
Bibi Dong licked her red lips. "So much food."
This place was wonderful.
The carriage stopped in front of a decent inn.
The three of them got out. Jiang Qingyu looked at Guang Ling Douluo. "Grandpa Guang Ling, I'll leave getting the rooms to you. I'm going to check out the snack street."
With that, Jiang Qingyu left.
Bibi Dong followed him as well.
Of the original three, only Guang Ling Douluo was left standing there alone.
"They just left?" Guang Ling Douluo said helplessly.
His gaze swept around before he suddenly spotted a familiar figure in the distance.
"Huh? That looks so much like Tang Chen."
Would Tang Chen come here?
Probably not. If he did run into Tang Chen, he really wanted Qingyu to compete with Tang Hao.
That guy always thought the Clear Sky Hammer was the greatest in the world.
That was only because he had never met Jiang Qingyu.
As Jiang Qingyu's number one admirer, he boasted about Qingyu's strength and exquisite cooking wherever he went.
Jiang Qingyu and Bibi Dong wandered around the eastern part of the city. There were plenty of people there, but by the time they reached the north side, the crowds had noticeably thinned.
Bibi Dong currently had two candied hawthorns stuffed in her mouth, her cheeks puffed out like a pufferfish. Seeing that only one remained, she raised it to Jiang Qingyu's lips, signaling for him to eat it.
Jiang Qingyu sighed at her puffed-up appearance and took a bite. It was sweet and cloying, with a faintly moist texture. He froze for a moment but did not think much of it.
After taking only two steps forward, a cry suddenly rang out from the sky.
"Help! Someone catch me!"
Jiang Qingyu looked up and saw a woman suddenly falling from high above.
What was going on?
Were people still jumping to their deaths these days?
Without giving it much thought, Jiang Qingyu leaped into the air, his figure flashing into midair as he reached out and steadily caught the falling woman.
Using the momentum to dissipate the force with the tips of his feet, he landed smoothly back on the ground.
The woman in his arms wore a water-blue gown, her wavy long blue hair spilling down around her. Her skin was as fair as snow, and she looked exceptionally lively.
Having just recovered from her fright, she opened her mouth to thank him. But when she looked up and met Jiang Qingyu's face, she froze on the spot.
What a beautiful lady.
She stared at Jiang Qingyu's peach blossom eyes, completely smitten, even forgetting to thank him.
"If you don't get up, I'm letting go." Jiang Qingyu's tone was cool as his fingers loosened slightly.
The woman snapped back to her senses in fright and hurriedly straightened herself out of his arms. Her cheeks reddened, and she said shyly, "Sorry, I lost my composure just now."
After steadying herself somewhat, she clasped her hands solemnly. "Thank you for saving my life, miss. My name is A Yin. What is yours?"
At that moment, Bibi Dong hurried over and stood at Jiang Qingyu's side, sizing A Yin up and down with a trace of scrutiny in her gaze.
Jiang Qingyu said flatly, "I'm a man. And your name is A Yin?"
The smile on A Yin's face instantly stiffened. Her eyes widened as she looked Jiang Qingyu over again and again, finally confirming that she had truly mistaken his gender—mainly because she saw his Adam's apple.
A Yin's cheeks turned even redder. She scratched her head awkwardly. "Ahaha, I'm really, really sorry! I didn't see clearly..."
"It's fine." Jiang Qingyu's tone remained calm. "How did you fall from the sky?"
"My martial soul is Blue Silver Grass. I used vines to swing up high and look at the city scenery, but I didn't expect the vine to suddenly break." A Yin stuck out her tongue, still somewhat shaken. "Good thing I ran into you. Otherwise, I would've fallen terribly."
She looked at Jiang Qingyu curiously again. "You don't look very old, but your movement technique is incredible. Are you a soul master?"
"We're from Spirit Hall," Bibi Dong answered before Jiang Qingyu could speak.
When A Yin heard the words "Spirit Hall," her expression changed almost imperceptibly. She quickly regained her smile. "So you are distinguished figures from Spirit Hall. Thank you for helping me. I still have matters to attend to, so I'll take my leave. If fate allows, I will surely repay you someday."
With that, she hastily bowed, turned, and quickly departed. Before long, she vanished at the end of the street.
Oh no, they're actually from Spirit Hall. They carry themselves so extraordinarily—they must be important figures. Maybe a Titled Douluo at their side will arrive any moment.
I specifically chose the sparsely populated northern part of the city.
And I still ran into them.
I don't want to become a soul ring.
I haven't lived long enough yet!
If I were a Soul Emperor or Soul Sage and had entered the mature stage, I definitely wouldn't be afraid.
I, A Yin, will return!
"That person seemed strange." Bibi Dong curled her lip and turned back to Jiang Qingyu. "Are we still going to the Spirit Arena?"
"Yes." Jiang Qingyu withdrew his gaze and walked forward.
To think he had encountered a hundred-thousand-year Blue Silver Emperor even here. Her attitude had been decent enough.
Surely he would not run into Tang Hao too?
His luck could not possibly be that absurd, could it?
The Fire Dragon King transmitted her voice from within his sea of consciousness. "That one was a hundred-thousand-year Blue Silver Emperor in human form. It seems she has not entered the mature stage yet. Why not keep her by your side and, when the opportunity comes, make her your eighth soul ring?"
Jiang Qingyu replied, "Forget it. My attributes are fire and ice. A Blue Silver Emperor soul ring would not suit either of them. I'd only absorb one if I were truly out of options."
The Fire Dragon King nodded. "As you wish, boy."
Soon, they arrived in front of the inn, and Jiang Qingyu called out to Guang Ling Douluo.
Guang Ling Douluo came out. "Let's go."
The three walked side by side and soon arrived at the Great Spirit Arena of Heaven Dou City.
The entire structure was built from blue stone and looked imposing. An arched gate dozens of meters tall stood at the front, while an endless stream of soul masters came and went.
Bibi Dong looked around, a hint of novelty in her eyes. She had spent most of her life in Spirit Hall and had come to Heaven Dou City only a handful of times, much less entered a spirit arena.
"I wonder what kind of opponents we'll run into today." Guang Ling Douluo had his hands tucked into his sleeves as he followed leisurely beside them. "Qingyu, what level are you planning to fight at?"
"We'll see what luck brings." Jiang Qingyu's tone was calm as he walked inside. "Since we came all this way, the matched opponent should not be too weak."
He had other plans in mind. The spirit arena was a mixed bag of all sorts, and this was not the era of that little runt. Perhaps he might find some unexpected gains.
The moment they entered, a wave of noise crashed over them. Two soul masters were fighting fiercely on the central main stage, the lights of their soul rings flashing in turn as the surrounding spectators shouted endlessly.
"Go!"
"I bet all my gold soul coins on you! Whether I become rich overnight depends on you!"
Jiang Qingyu was already used to such sounds.
Jiang Qingyu headed straight for the registration desk, reported his rank and alias, and waited after the staff verified the information. The system would automatically match him with an opponent of the same rank.
"I'm telling you, no one at the same rank is a match for you." Guang Ling Douluo curled his lip, looking utterly confident. "If it weren't too shocking, I'd have you fight in the Soul Douluo division right away."
Jiang Qingyu did not respond. His gaze swept over the contestants waiting below the stage. Who would it be?
His eyes settled on a figure in the corner.
"So familiar..."
