Background / History

Guang Ling spent five years living at Jiang Qingyu’s border-town residence, eating and drinking there for free while presenting himself simply as “Grandpa Guang Ling.” Qingluan repeatedly criticized him for mooching off Jiang Qingyu, but Guang Ling eventually decided to repay the boy by bringing him into Spirit Hall. 1

He revealed that he was Guang Ling Douluo, Spirit Hall’s Fifth Consecrator and a level 96 Titled Douluo. After witnessing Jiang Qingyu’s extraordinary talent, he supported Qian Daoliu’s decision to appoint Jiang Qingyu as Spirit Hall’s Holy Son. 1 2

At Spirit Hall, Guang Ling arranged Jiang Qingyu’s residence beside the Consecration Hall so that it would be convenient for Jiang Qingyu to cook for him. He later accompanied Jiang Qingyu to Sunset Forest, Star Dou Great Forest, Heaven Dou City, and the journey toward Flame Valley. 2 6 24 61

Personality

Guang Ling is openly gluttonous and shameless about his fondness for Jiang Qingyu’s cooking. He repeatedly prioritizes food over dignity, once admitting that he could not have both and ultimately choosing food. 16 35

Despite his unserious habits, he is attentive to Jiang Qingyu’s safety and cultivation. He immediately agrees to accompany Jiang Qingyu to Sunset Forest rather than let him seek Qingluan’s help, stands guard during the refinement of the Earthcore Phoenix Blood Crystal, and volunteers to test Jiang Qingyu’s newly awakened Dragon God’s Claw. 6 19 33

He is also proud and intensely competitive, especially toward Qingluan Douluo. After reaching Rank 97, he tried to force Qingluan to acknowledge him as “Third Brother”; after attaining Rank 98, he publicly challenged Qingluan again. 20 21 57

Durability

Guang Ling took Jiang Qingyu’s initial Dragon God’s Claw head-on as a power test. The attack shattered his arrow, slammed him into the ground, and demonstrated strong suppression, but Guang Ling was able to stand back up afterward. 33
