Background

The Fire Dragon King’s remnant soul remained with the Ice Dragon King beneath the Icefire Yin-Yang Well, guarding their immense dragon skeletons. When Jiang Qingyu reached the lakebed, she and the Ice Dragon King restrained and interrogated him, initially mistaking him for a woman. She was immediately suspicious of his interest in the dragon bones and demanded an explanation. 8

After recognizing Jiang Qingyu’s ice-and-fire attributes and negotiating a bargain, the Dragon Kings agreed to give him their bones in return for help rebuilding their bodies. A purported peace agreement instead formed a master-servant contract, making Jiang Qingyu their master. The Fire Dragon King was furious at the result, particularly because the two had once stood among the Nine Dragon Kings. 9

Although the Ice Dragon King took responsibility for reciting the contract incantation, the Fire Dragon King had formerly presided over dragon-clan contract rituals and immediately recognized that the formation was drawing soul power in the direction of a master-servant contract. 9

She subsequently entered Jiang Qingyu’s sea of consciousness with the Ice Dragon King. Though bound by contract, she generally presents their relationship to outsiders as friendship and a “special bond,” concealing the master-servant arrangement. 9 51

During Jiang Qingyu’s encounter with the gods, the Life Goddess treated the old wounds in her remnant soul. Though the healing did not reconstruct her body completely, it considerably restored and stabilized her soul form. 114

In contrast to the Ice Dragon King’s impulsiveness, she is more cautious and tactful. She prevents the Ice Dragon King from publicly revealing their servitude to Jiang Qingyu, discusses threats to his future with Di Tian, and stresses that Jiang Qingyu belongs to neither of them. 51

She is fiercely protective of Jiang Qingyu. She reprimands Di Tian for threatening him, guards him during the Flame Marrow Heart absorption, and takes a personal interest in raising his potential toward the level of the Dragon God. 11 68 69
