Unfortunately, whether Bael had truly become cowardly and no longer dared to join the Blood War against the demons,
or whether he had stayed out of sight because he was devouring Zariel's power,
in any case, the title of coward had truly landed squarely on Bael's forehead.
Anywhere, good reputations did not necessarily spread far, but bad news and ugly titles always traveled with astonishing speed.
The devils had a poor impression of Bael, and accordingly, the support they could offer him grew ever scarcer.
Bronze Citadel.
Within the central fortress, in the palace where Bael resided.
The powerful devil wore a face full of fury as he smashed the furnishings within the palace.
Bael vented the rage in his heart, as though he were treating those furnishings as Huo Ling.
Hellfire blazed fiercely in Bael's eyes, and his claws creaked as he clenched them.
"Looks like Huo Ling truly intends to make a move against me!" Bael gritted his teeth.
A Marquis of Purgatory stood within the palace. He was Bael's loyal subordinate, a greater devil bound to him by a master-servant contract.
The marquis said, "My Lord, Huo Ling's strength is far inferior to yours. Why not summon him to the Bronze Citadel? If he dares come, we can deal with him!"
Huo Ling had always concealed himself well and had not revealed his true purpose.
Although Bael's intelligence network was fairly capable, it still fell somewhat short of the one under Colin's command.
Ever since Huo Ling killed the God of Dawn, he had never again revealed his true strength in the Spirit Realm. In Purgatory, he had continuously maintained only the power of someone who had just reached the Solar rank.
Other than several Dark Generals and Tiamat, no other devils knew Huo Ling's true strength.
