Zhao Wuji is a sturdy middle-aged man with an ordinary appearance but an intensely imposing presence. Though not tall, his broad shoulders and steel-like musculature make him appear built for direct combat. 28

His protectiveness toward Shrek is equally direct: he states that, despite the academy's poverty, its teachers protect their own students. He distinguishes between outsiders and enrolled students, viewing disputes among the latter as healthy peer competition. 28

His confidence can become recklessness. Shrek Academy Enrollment Assessment

Zhao Wuji serves as the examiner for Shrek's fourth trial, requiring applicants to withstand him for the duration of one incense stick. He openly plans to punish Su Ge on Dai Mubai's behalf, but Su Ge's level 44 strength and abnormal spirit-ring configuration force him to take the fight seriously. 28 29

Despite using his first four soul skills, Zhao Wuji is physically suppressed by Su Ge. Su Ge stops a final punch just before Zhao Wuji's face when the incense burns out, preserving the examiner's dignity. Zhao Wuji passes the applicants and reports the encounter to Flender. 30 31

Star Dou Great Forest Expedition

Zhao Wuji accompanies the Shrek group to obtain spirit rings. After Su Ge captures a Phoenix-tail Crested Serpent for Oscar, Zhao Wuji chooses to keep it despite its prior hunters' claim, creating a conflict with Chao Tianxiang and Meng Shu. 42 43

Once Su Ge intervenes, Meng Shu agrees to let Shrek retain the serpent on the condition that they help find a suitable replacement for Meng Yiran. Zhao Wuji remains in the forest to assist Zhu Zhuqing after her breakthrough to level 30. 44

When the Titan Giant Ape appears and takes Xiao Wu, Zhao Wuji orders the students to retreat if necessary, entrusting their survival to Su Ge's command while he pursues the danger with the rest of the group. 45
