Background

Fang Zhixing was formerly a successful investment-bank manager who had achieved financial freedom and was approaching a promotion to partner before being hacked to death. He transmigrated alongside Zhang Changji, waking in the body of an eighteen-year-old villager called Big Ox in Crouching Ox Village, Qinghe Commandery, Great Zhou. 1 2 10

The village was suffering through famine, natural disasters, and widespread desperation. Initially too weak to hunt, Fang survived by gathering river snails, clams, crayfish, and eel with Skinny Dog's help. 2 3 4 His max-level cheat first manifested when he touched Big Ox's bow, revealing advancement requirements for the Apprentice Archer rank. 6

Fang's first months in the new world hardened his outlook. He killed Uncle Song's hunting party after their dog attacked him and he concluded that they had returned to steal his arrows. 9 10 When the Zhao family seized his weapons and Third Uncle Zhao's family tried to kill and eat him, he used Skinny Dog's expendable life to fulfill the sword-draw technique's final requirement, then killed both cannibals. 17 18

After massacring the old village chief's household and uncovering its hidden food stores, Fang left Crouching Ox Village with Skinny Dog, provisions, livestock, and recovered arrows. 19 21 He later reached Little Clear River Market Town, studied the Iron Mountain Art under Cheng Tian'en, destroyed Chen Yusheng and Riverside Restaurant in retaliation for an attempted murder, and entered Luo Kegong's service to gain access to literacy and martial arts manuals. 29 30 37 39 43 44

Fang's service under Luo Kegong and later Luo Peiyun gave him a route into Qinglin County's military structure. He became the Archer Battalion's instructor, gained merit in the suppression of local unrest, and was ultimately promoted to Infantry Commander. 64 116 133 137 His rising strength and refusal to remain a clan retainer eventually brought him into conflict with the Luo Family and other aristocratic powers. 146 221 262

After leaving Qinghe Commandery, Fang passed through Dan Prefecture under disguises such as Fang Maofu and Zhang Changji. He entered the Six Void Sect by claiming the inheritance of its mysterious founding patron, rapidly gained Fan Zhenglun's support, and used the sect's library and resources to build an unprecedented Nine Oxen Realm foundation. 140 164 246 248 250

His cultivation subsequently led him through Fleshly Body Ascension, wars against great clans, the Ancient Emperor Forbidden Zone, the Machine God Continent, and the High Heaven World. Although he repeatedly seeks freedom, safety, resources, and a peaceful life, his conspicuous power continually draws him into conflicts with sects, dynasties, corporations, Celestials, Great Void beings, and immortal clans. 278 342 395 429 474

Appearance

Fang inhabits the body of Big Ox, an eighteen-year-old mountain villager. He was originally weak and underfed, but repeated upgrades greatly strengthened his muscles, bones, and build. 1 7 19

  • His physical transformation made him noticeably sturdier and approximately a head taller than before, with bronze-red skin and the outline of eight abdominal muscles. 19
  • He is described as a little over five feet tall, with compact, defined musculature. 50
  • He later adopts a black fitted martial outfit patterned with bats, a silk-tied topknot, and a bright yellow short cloak. 34
  • His new attire gives him the appearance of a young wandering swordsman. 34
  • By the winter following his arrival in Qinglin County, he has grown past 1.8 meters tall, with broad rippling muscles and a powerful build. 96
  • His repeated Five Beasts Realm advancements raise his height first to two meters, then to over 2.7 meters in transformed forms; after completing Balance, he can maintain a naturally proportioned form around two meters tall. 103 162 192 193
  • Blood Net allows him to alter his body toward the limits of strength, defense, toughness, or agility. In a strength-focused state, he can expand beyond three meters tall. 193 208
  • His Nine Oxen Realm demon transformation produces blood-red tentacles, jade scales, poisonous blood, and other visibly inhuman traits. 211 251
  • After Fleshly Body Ascension and later bloodline mutations, his outward form becomes increasingly variable. His current attempts at reshaping have produced three eyes, flesh-and-blood wings, dragon scales, and a tentacle tail. 283 390 518
  • Fang frequently uses Bone Shrinking, disguises, false identities, and altered clothing to conceal his identity and reduce attention. 140 164 175 451

Personality

Fang is pragmatic, calculating, and highly adaptive. During famine, he quickly turns river foraging, hunting, and physical training into a sustainable survival routine rather than waiting for rescue. 2 4 7 He gathers information patiently, uses money and politeness when useful, and avoids provoking stronger local powers until he understands their weaknesses. 27 28 38 41

He is also exceptionally ruthless when he decides an opponent is a threat. Fang regrets being reactive against Uncle Song's group and adopts a policy of vigilance and preemptive action. 10 11 He kills the Zhao family in revenge, exploits Skinny Dog's resurrection to complete advancement requirements, and openly rejects the idea that he is a conventional hero. 18 19 23

Despite his harshness, Fang protects Skinny Dog from Chen Yusheng's attempted purchase and repeatedly works with him as an equal partner in survival, combat, and reconnaissance. 34 37 46 His loyalty is practical and often abrasive, but he values Skinny Dog's abilities and companionship.

Fang is ambitious in a distinctly professional sense. He treats military service, clan politics, social alliances, and cultivation resources as parts of a career that must be managed ruthlessly and intelligently. He believes that visible strength can create safety, opportunities, and bargaining power, provided he does not expose every trump card at once. 64 116 128 167

His ruthlessness does not make him indiscriminately violent. He can exercise restraint when it benefits him, as shown when he stopped sparring after winning the respect of Iron Mountain Sect disciples and when he spared the Hu siblings after defeating them. 51 169 He also displays genuine sympathy toward civilians devastated by war, though he refuses to sacrifice his freedom to serve a great clan merely because of its power. 221

Fang deeply distrusts permanent obligations, especially those imposed by aristocratic families or romantic attachments. He repeatedly rejects recruitment, avoids being made into a pawn, and leaves relationships without promises when he believes attachment would compromise his survival or autonomy. 203 221 265

Abilities & Skills

Max-Level Cheat

Fang's cheat activates upon contact with qualifying weapons, techniques, or materials, displaying concrete conditions for reaching a skill's maximum level. Completing those conditions grants mastery instantly rather than through ordinary years of training. 6 10 30

  • Upgrades can improve his physique, including muscle strength and bone density. 19 37
  • Leveling restores his body, removing injuries, illness, exhaustion, and accumulated damage. 18 37
  • Requirements can adapt when he encounters new resources, such as exotic beasts. 35
  • He must obtain a skill's underlying technique or relevant item before its advancement requirements can appear. 41
  • The cheat can upgrade compatible cultivation arts in succession, reducing the difficulty of associated arts once his foundation becomes sufficiently deep. 248
  • It can also reset his body by synthesizing materials or equipment, allowing him to remove severe injuries, flesh-tissue contamination, and other accumulated abnormalities. 270 278
  • His system recognizes advancement through unusual circumstances, including shared dreams, killing comparable opponents, forging weapons, refining materials, and completing cultivation conditions in restricted zones. 113 229 462 465

Archery

Fang is a max-level archer whose accuracy and rate of fire make him dangerous at range.

  • As an Apprentice Archer, he does not miss within 30 meters against ordinary targets. 7 8
  • He can rapidly fire nearly two arrows per second after reaching Elite Shooter. 37
  • He uses archery for ambushes, executions, hunting, and suppressing multiple enemies. 9 25 37 39
  • His archery is sufficiently valuable that Luo Peiyun recruits him to establish and train an Archer Battalion. 64 115

Curving Shot

Curving Shot causes a fired arrow to bend around obstacles in flight. 20

  • Fang used it to kill Mountain-Crossing Wind with an arrow whose true firing angle the bandit leader never recognized. 25
  • It advances to Lv2 after Fang becomes an Elite Shooter. 37

Armor Break

Armor Break allows an arrow to pierce armor within 50 meters, provided Fang uses a sufficiently powerful bow. 37

Throwing

Throwing gives Fang proficiency with thrown weapons, including flying knives, darts, and shuriken. 37

Dynamic Vision

Dynamic Vision allows Fang to perceive fast-moving objects more clearly, improving his ability to track attacks and react during close combat. 37 48

Basic Sword-Draw Technique

Fang mastered the sword-draw technique by repeatedly drawing his blade and killing two lifeforms recognized as his level. 11 14 18

  • His technique unifies his full-body strength into a single attack, forming the basis of his Force Unification Realm recognition. 18 29
  • He can kill with fast, decisive draws and uses the technique in both duels and ambushes. 18 19 23

White Slash

White Slash is Fang's burst skill from the Basic Sword-Draw Technique. 18

  • It condenses his entire body's power into a single downward cut. 18
  • Fang used it to split Third Uncle Zhao in half. 18
  • Its extreme power heavily drains his stamina after use. 18

Iron Mountain Art

Fang learned the First Layer of the Iron Mountain Art from Cheng Tian'en and perfected it through his cheat. The First Layer corresponds to the Force Unification Realm and trains circulation of qi and blood to unite the body's strength. 30 31

  • Fang can use the art's First Layer forms to overpower other Force Unification martial artists. 48 50
  • He copied the second layer of the manual from Luo Kegong's study, though he has not yet completed its advancement requirements. 47 48

Iron Mountain Lean

Iron Mountain Lean is Fang's close-range burst skill from the perfected First Layer. 31

  • Fang abruptly accelerates at close range and drives his shoulder or elbow into the target with explosive force. 31
  • He used it to defeat Wang Yitong during his bodyguard test and to kill Skinny Dog in a controlled resurrection experiment. 32 43
  • Its range is limited compared with White Slash. 32

Five Beasts Martial Arts

Fang develops his body by cultivating complementary arts across strength, agility, toughness, defense, and balance. He focuses primarily on giant bear-type strength arts, Shadow Leopard-type agility arts, Black Tortoise-type defensive arts, and a final balance art that integrates every attribute. 75 128 163 177

  • His giant bear-type arts raise his raw force from tens of thousands of jin to more than 90,000 jin before he begins addressing his remaining attributes. 114 126 128
  • His toughness arts grant unusually elastic muscles, resilient bones, and efficient storage and release of force. 158 162
  • His defensive arts manifest as tortoiseshell patterns, golden scales, and later bronze-colored skin with formidable blade-and-spear resistance. 168 174 192
  • His Balanced Five Beasts physique permits him to shift his Blood Net toward whichever attribute is most useful in battle. 193 208

Blood Net

Blood Net is Fang's defining Five Beasts Realm burst skill. It is an Lv4 skill awakened despite normally belonging to the Nine Oxen Realm. 193

  • It is a complex network formed from Fang's strengthened body and accumulated burst-skill nodes. 193
  • Fang can redistribute its emphasis among strength, defense, toughness, and agility. 193 208
  • By focusing on strength, he can expand his body beyond three meters and unleash around 200,000 jin of force. 193 208
  • Blood Net remains central to his later demon transformations and bloodline-based combat methods. 211 233

Saber Arts

Fang transitions from a crude chopping blade and sword-draw technique into a dedicated saber wielder. His saber arts include the Li Clan Featherweight Saber, Iron Bamboo Divine Blade Art, Blood-Drinking Demon Saber, and later numerous higher-level blade arts. 114 162 248 321

Stored-Power Slash

Stored-Power Slash allows Fang to accumulate force into a saber strike while remaining stationary. The longer he stores power, the more the attack can exceed his normal limits. 162

Bamboo-Breaking Momentum

Bamboo-Breaking Momentum allows Fang to press a successful saber advantage continuously, building an unstoppable offensive flow. 162

Blade Mountain, Sea of Fire

Blade Mountain, Sea of Fire is Fang's Lv6 finishing technique, created upon entering the Return to True Realm. 321

  • Its destructive power is immense, but it severely damages Fang's body when used at full force. 321
  • Fang later uses it to defeat King Chuguan and the black goat kid in the Ancient Emperor Forbidden Zone. 342

Demon Transformation

Fang's demon-transformation cultivation begins with the Heavenly Net Blood Transformation Art, an art formed from the fusion of the Heavenly Baleful Blood Sea Art and Heavenly Net Secret Scripture. 193

  • He can form blood-red tentacles that possess sensory capability and function as extensions of his body. 211
  • He can combine demon-transformation arts, covering his tentacles in jade scales, gathering poison within them, and strengthening them with blood. 251
  • He has cultivated compatible arts such as Jade Qilin Break, Blood-Drinking Demon Saber, Hundred Poisons Divine Art, and the Six Void Mysterious Art. 248 250
  • His mastery of multiple compatible arts lets him accumulate an extraordinarily profound foundation without relying on a single conventional lineage. 248 251

Blood-Refining Heavenly Net

Blood-Refining Heavenly Net lets Fang liberate portions of his body and condense them into controllable tentacles. 211

  • His demon-transformation form can extend a massive tentacle while increasing his physical size and combat power. 211 215
  • Fang used the ability to absorb Gu Jingzhang after defeating his White Snake demon transformation. 215

Blood-Transforming Poison Mist

Blood-Transforming Poison Mist consumes Fang's own vital blood to create a poisonous red mist that weakens the blood vitality of all living beings caught within it. 211

  • Its effects are doubled against injured opponents. 211
  • Fang considers it most useful for ambushes and prolonged battles after first inflicting even a minor wound. 211

Fleshly Body Ascension and Mad Blood

Fang chooses Fleshly Body Ascension upon crossing the Hundred Oxen Realm rather than surrendering his humanity to a full demon path. 278 283

  • His blood evolves into frenzied blood, continuously remaking his flesh, bones, organs, and brain. 283
  • He gains extraordinary regenerative ability, including the capacity to survive decapitation-level damage and regrow severed body parts. 297 311
  • His Mad Blood Tyrant cultivation grants Mad Demon Blood, Tyrant's Aura, and increasingly powerful bloodline burst skills. 283 296
  • In higher forms, he can manifest colossal bodies, fight at giant scale, and overpower conventional Fleshly Body Ascension cultivators. 390 402

Higher Cultivation

Fang continues advancing through Immortal Against the Five Elements, Return to True, Earthly Sha, Heavenly Gang, Martial King, Martial Saint, and immortal realms. 319 321 395 409 429 480

  • Yin-Yang Reversal (Lv5) is an Immortal Against the Five Elements burst skill that accompanies his breakthrough from the Hundred Oxen Realm. 319
  • Immortal Against the Five Elements grants him a divine power resistant to Five Elements-based attacks and restraints. 319 321
  • His Heavenly Gang Realm Blood Demon Tyrant cultivation grants Demon Blood Seal, permitting targeted demonic modification of his own or another person's blood. 411
  • Three-Eyed Divine Manifestation enhances his Heaven-and-Earth Manifestation by opening a third eye and adding a further sacred power. 411
  • His Three-Eye can suppress higher-realm opponents, as demonstrated when he forced Tian Chaoshi from the Heavenly Gang Realm back to the Earthly Sha Realm. 409
  • His Martial King-level Boundless Demon Palm gives him Demonic Love for All Beings (Lv9) and Offering a Flower to the Demon (Lv9). 416
  • He possesses the Level 10 destiny burst skills Prison-Suppressing Calamity Hand and Iron Maiden, as well as the Golden Eyes of Chongmu divine ability Tribulation-Breaking Golden Light. 458

Weapon Refinement and Forging

Fang's cheat extends to forging and upgrading weapons once he acquires sufficient materials and practical knowledge. 97 113

  • He upgrades sabers into treasured weapons, including the Level 2 Wind-Listening Blade. 114
  • He forges and upgrades high-tier arrows in preparation for restricted-zone expeditions. 97
  • He later fuses the Funeral Blade, Dragonbone Staff, and Divine Edge Iron into the Three-Point Double-Edged Saber. 409
  • He refines 30,000 immortal weapons and demonic blades, gaining the derived skills Soldier Glyph Secret and Battlefield Phobia. 481
  • He synthesizes the Night Baleful Saber, Six Directions Mirror, Purple-Gold Soul-Refining Bamboo, Fortune-Seeking and Calamity-Averting Talisman, and million-year Elephant Tomb Bone into the Bury All Beings Saber. 462

Literacy

Fang began learning to read from Wang Yitong in order to access and copy martial arts manuals. 45

  • His cheat presents literacy as a trainable skill requiring repeated reading of a dictionary. 45
  • He learned enough to identify and copy the second level of the Iron Mountain Art. 47 48
  • His later literacy and research skills let him assess extensive martial-art collections, decode cultivation requirements, and search for solutions to rare physical conditions. 163 248 272

Relationships

  • Zhang Changji / Skinny Dog — Fellow transmigrator, canine companion, scout, and combat partner. Their relationship is marked by constant bickering, telepathic communication, mutual reliance, and Fang's repeated exploitation of Skinny Dog's spare lives for advancement. 2 18 27 37 After seven years apart due to differing time flows, they reunite; Skinny Dog has become a Level 4 Mane Wolf with numerous bloodline burst skills and eighteen lives. 274 Their bond remains strained by Fang's continued use of Skinny Dog's lives, but they continue fighting and advancing together. 287 297 |
  • Cheng Tian'en — First martial arts teacher.
