Background / History

Body Sect leadership and the confrontation at Shrek

Du Busi’s elder brother belonged to the previous generation’s strongest experts, giving him familiarity with figures such as Ye Xishui and Long Xiaoyao. Before reaching Rank 99, Du Busi’s lifespan was nearing its end, and the Body Sect lacked a suitable successor—circumstances he later identifies as reasons for his earlier caution 96 105.

He arrives above Shrek City with twenty-two followers and challenges Xuan Zi. Their clash shakes the city until Mu En intervenes with Sea God’s Light. Recognizing that he cannot contend with Mu En, Du Busi withdraws. His failure to establish superiority also discourages Huo Yuhao from joining the Body Sect at that time 74.

Alliance with Jiang Bai

In the Far North, Du Busi interrupts Jiang Bai’s fight with Long Aotian. He praises Jiang Bai’s Ultimate Ice and ten-thousand-year fourth Soul Ring, but regrets that the youth lacks a Body Martial Soul. In exchange for information about a Titan Snow Ape suitable for Long Aotian’s sixth ring, he supplies an ancient continental map and later gives Jiang Bai a token connected to a friend in the Heaven Dou Empire 81 82 83.

Du Busi had searched for the Icefire Yin Yang Well for over a decade without success. Jiang Bai’s unusual luck persuades him to join another search in Sunset Forest. The expedition yields numerous Fairy Herbs, although the poisonous mist corrodes his wounds and ruins much of his clothing. He rewards Jiang Bai’s contribution with two herbs, then enters seclusion and reaches the Limit Realm 88 89 90.

Afterward, he gives Jiang Bai a personal Body Sect token and promises to treat the youth’s troubles as his own. Their relationship becomes an alliance built on exchanged resources, trust, and protection rather than Jiang Bai’s formal membership in the sect 90.

Dugu Ling’s recruitment

At Jiang Bai’s home, Du Busi discovers that Xiao Ling, whose full name is Dugu Ling, possesses twin Body Martial Souls. One produces poison throughout her body; the other creates poisonous fire that consumes it. He recognizes both the danger of her condition and her exceptional potential 91.

Dugu Ling initially ignores his boastful introduction as a Rank 99 expert. Du Busi eventually wins her agreement by explaining her compressed Soul Power and warning that she needs greater strength to remain beside Jiang Bai. He intends to teach her everything he knows and regards her as a future Body Sect master 92.

He stabilizes her Martial Souls, supplies the last Narcissus Jade Muscle Bone available to him, and personally arranges her first three Soul Rings. When she refuses to return to the Dugu Family, he accepts her decision without demanding an explanation 93.

During a later meeting with Shrek’s younger generation, Du Busi learns that Jiang Bai and Tang Ya—not the Body Sect—destroyed the Ironblood Sect. He tests Bei Bei against Long Aotian under restricted Soul Skill conditions and is satisfied with Bei Bei’s performance 95 96.

Mingdu and the campaign against Evil Soul Masters

Before leaving for the Sun Moon Empire, Du Busi places Jin Peng in temporary charge of the Body Sect. He enters Mingdu by altering his appearance while Jiang Bai suppresses his cultivation to a Soul Ancestor’s reading. Jiang Bai also persuades him that using Soul Tools need not interfere with traditional cultivation 97 98.

An attempted robbery leads the pair to raid an Aodu Chamber of Commerce branch. Du Busi defeats its guards and director while Jiang Bai collects the valuables, then teleports them away before reinforcements arrive. His subsequent black-market raids contribute to tighter security in Mingdu 99 114.

At Jiang Bai’s request, Du Busi takes Ye Guyi under his guidance. He helps secure her fifth Soul Ring, protects her from Shangguan Wei’er, and begins testing the Holy Angel Martial Soul’s ability to grow by purifying Evil Soul Masters. At a mining base, he captures and interrogates the Holy Spirit Cult’s Sixth Elder, cripples him, and leaves the execution to Ye Guyi 104 105 108.

His plans extend beyond combat: he considers recruiting Nana to teach Body Sect disciples to use Soul Tools, recognizes Ji Juechen’s domain potential, and offers to take in rescued Sun Moon natives as personnel for an intelligence station 114 116.

Divine thunder and the break with Shrek

Du Busi becomes caught in the pursuit of Huo Yuhao by the Clear Sky Sect’s powerful leaders. Niu Tian’s punch nearly cripples him, forcing him to escape through blood-burning Golden Awakening and spatial movement. Fearing that he may not survive, he entrusts Jiang Bai with a Body Seed 119 120.

He and Huo Yuhao enter the Land of Destruction Inheritance, where even his Limit Douluo strength struggles against the thunder. Huo Yuhao supplies life force so Du Busi can activate Golden Awakening and carry them to the hidden palace. The Destruction God King then sends Du Busi back into the thunder for further tempering 121 122.

After escaping stronger, Du Busi vows retaliation against the Clear Sky Sect. He also agrees to help prevent war between Shrek and the Sun Moon Empire, fulfilling the payment he owes Huo Yuhao for supplying Soul Tools to the Body Sect 124 125.

At the Mingdou Mountains, he defends Huo Yuhao’s decision not to return to Shrek and ends the youth’s exchange arrangement. When Xuan Zi challenges him, Du Busi reveals his Limit Realm cultivation and defeats him with Thunderclap. He spares Xuan Zi because Shrek remains an important force against the Sun Moon Empire 126 127.

The voyage and Sea Soul Master battle

Du Busi accompanies Long Aotian and Huo Yuhao in securing the wounded Indestructible Thunder Eel as Long Aotian’s soul spirit. He supports Long Aotian’s oath to avenge the eel and oversees the successful transformation 130 131.

When four powerful Sea Soul Masters pursue their ship to capture Huo Yuhao, Du Busi agrees to hold off the two Limit Douluos while Huo Yuhao handles the others. He supplies three Level 8 Fixed-Mounted Soul-Conducting Bombs for an ambush against the concealed Manta Ray Douluo 132.

During the ensuing battle, Huo Yuhao’s spiritual attack creates an opening for Du Busi to kill Spirit Turtle Douluo. Du Busi then decapitates Vast Sea Douluo with Thunderclap Severing Strike and extracts twelve Soul Bones from the two fallen Limit Douluos. News of the victory prompts Shrek to direct nearly all its intelligence resources toward the Body Sect 134 135.

He persuades her to become his disciple by directly confronting her fear of becoming a burden to Jiang Bai 88 92.

His generosity is concentrated on people he values. He pays for useful information, rewards Jiang Bai’s contribution to the herb expedition, and invests rare treasures and personal instruction in Dugu Ling. Despite his forceful manner, he respects her refusal to return to her family 81 89 90 93.

He is also opportunistic and unapologetic about taking spoils. He repeatedly robs criminal black markets and initially approaches an explosion site hoping to find abandoned Soul Tools.
