Background

Nanami fled toward Konoha with her parents during the aftermath of the Warring States era. Both parents starved to death on the journey, leaving her alone and determined to survive as they had wished. In a forest a few miles from Konoha, she was cornered by a tiger until Uzumaki Shusen saved her with Shinra Tensei. She introduced herself as Nanami and followed him to the village. 201

Shusen first brought her to Konoha’s refugee shelter, but Nanami was frightened of staying there and asked to accompany him instead. Offering to cook, wash clothes, and perform any work in exchange for food, she was temporarily taken into his home. 202 203

Nanami is introduced as a starving refugee attacked by a tiger outside Konoha. Shusen rescues her, escorts her to the village, and reluctantly lets her remain in his home after she refuses the refugee shelter. She quickly assumes domestic responsibilities and transforms the household through cooking, cleaning, and gardening. 201 202 204 209

Ninja Training

After deciding she should be able to protect herself, Shusen gives Nanami a chakra-training manual and secretly supplements her reserves with Kurama’s chakra. Under his instruction, she learns chakra control, tree climbing, hand seals, and the Great Fireball Technique with remarkable speed. 213 216 217

Hospital Work and Confession

Mito helps Nanami begin work at Konoha Hospital after Shusen tells her to move out. Nanami adapts well to her coworkers, but attention from other men makes Shusen confront his feelings. Marriage and Family

Shusen eventually reveals his identity as the Masked Hero to Nanami and plans a grand wedding. Ten years later, she is living as an Uzumaki in the Land of Whirlpools, married to the Uzukage and raising their daughter, Fusang. 231 232
