Background

Di Jiang is one of the Twelve Ancestral Witches born from Father God Pangu's essence blood and a master of the Witch Clan. He possesses exceptional prestige among his siblings: Zhu Rong and Gong Gong immediately cease fighting when he intervenes. 1

When Houtu brought the gestating Nine-Clawed Golden Dragon to Pangu Hall, Di Jiang recognized that its aura shared the Ancestral Witches' origin but differed from their blood-derived nature. He opposed proposals to refine it, insisting that they first determine its origin and purpose. 1 2

After personally inspecting Pan Xuan's aura, Di Jiang confirmed that Pan Xuan was born from Pangu's noble righteous qi and accepted him as a brother. 3

Although born from Pangu, Di Jiang had never seen his Father's true face before the encounter on Mount Buzhou. Seeing Pangu's figure moved him to tears, and the teachings he received there became central to the Witch Clan's subsequent development. 26 28

He later became a principal organizer of the Divine Dao System and assumed the office of Mountain God of Central Mount Song. His Space Tribe supplied clanspeople to assist the newly appointed Mountain Gods in carrying out their duties. 102 105

Appearance

In his true form, Di Jiang is a formless, faceless god-demon whose shape resembles a yellow sack, red as cinnabar fire. His presence distorts the surrounding space. 1

  • True form — Six feet and four wings; faceless and formless. 1
  • Aura — Spatial fluctuations severe enough to distort space itself. 1
  • Innate Dao body — A resolute middle-aged man with a square face, thick brows, and large eyes. 7
  • Spatial presence — Even in human form, the air around him appears deeper under the influence of his power of space. 7
  • Martial Dao Manifestation — A spectral version of his rounded, faceless True Form, appearing within chaos-colored light and radiating powerful spatial distortions. 44
  • Space Law Deity — Manifests behind him with chaos-colored light revolving like a vortex, deepening and distorting the surrounding air. 97
  • Embryonic Primordial Spirit — Initially appears as a flickering chaos-colored halo between his brows. 219

Personality

Di Jiang is serious, prudent, and decisive. He treats Pangu's relics with reverence, demands investigation before action, and responds quickly to possible threats; after Pan Xuan identified the Destruction Stele, Di Jiang immediately ordered the group to leave the abyss. 2 21

As the group's leader, he is protective of his siblings. He supported Pan Xuan despite doubts surrounding the Heavenly Enlightenment Wisdom Light, arranged for all Twelve Ancestral Witches to teach him, and placed Pan Xuan and Houtu within the group's protective formation when the violent Killing Intent erupted from the western restriction. 5 6 19

He is also receptive to sound counsel. Di Jiang recognizes Pan Xuan's strategic value, adopts his proposal for the Witch Clan to grow discreetly, and credits him with providing a path for the clan's future. 12 15

His trust in Pan Xuan eventually becomes an explicit division of responsibility: when the Heavenly Court is established, he insists on waiting for the strategist's return before deciding the clan's response. He also refrains from pressing Pan Xuan about undisclosed plans when he understands that they serve the Witch Clan. 102 139

His protectiveness is practical rather than merely emotional. Before Pan Xuan's Blood Sea journey, he selects Houtu for her steadiness, defensive treasure, and affinity with the terrain, and Zhu Jiuyin for his prudence and ability to anticipate danger. He considers Pan Xuan's safety more important than obtaining the Blood Sea's resources. 135 139

Di Jiang is firm about the Witch Clan's independence, declaring that its actions require no approval from outside cultivators. Nevertheless, he is willing to repair estranged relationships and support cooperation with former enemies when the Primordial World's safety demands it. 61 147 171 275

Abilities & Skills

Law of Space and Speed

Di Jiang commands the laws of space and speed, with an understanding of spatial Dao that few beings can match. 1 7

  • His spatial power can suppress conflict among the Ancestral Witches and seal off an area in response to danger. 1 2
  • He formed invisible spatial blades and waves to assault the western innate restriction. 19
  • His spatial power deepened substantially after absorbing the Ferocious Beast Killing Intent. 20
  • He could not break the ancient restriction alone, even after increasing his strength. 19
  • While climbing Mount Buzhou, he sensed the spatial aspect of Pangu's power within the mountain's pressure. 25
  • He transported earth-vein fragments across the western lands with precise spatial movements during the long restoration effort. Sustained work over countless years still required occasional rests. 40 41
  • His Space Law Deity enabled him to locate exceedingly rare stars containing space origins deep within the Star Sea. He extracted a strand of origin power from an almost transparent star and stored it in spirit jade. 73
  • Spatial passages are his specialty. With the other Ancestral Witches stabilizing his work, he established thirteen permanent Spatial Arrays connecting the Blood Sea to Mount Buzhou: twelve channels for purified fiend qi and a larger thirteenth passage supplying bloodline essence directly to the Pangu Blood Pool. 143
  • He layered spatial barriers around the Blood Sea during preparations for reincarnation, separating it from the Primordial World's surrounding space as an isolated domain of laws. 214
  • At the final unification of spirit and flesh, his relationship with Space Law reached the state described as him being space and space being him. 343

Ancestral Witch Physique

As an Ancestral Witch, Di Jiang can absorb Killing Intent to temper and strengthen his body.

  • He absorbed the ancient Killing Intent at the Ferocious Beast Calamity site, breaking past the limits of a Daluo Golden Immortal. 20
  • Unlike Houtu, he initially did not possess a primordial spirit; after the other Ancestral Witches failed to develop one under the Heavenly Enlightenment Wisdom Light, he declined to undergo the test. 11
  • The absence of a primordial spirit initially limited the Witch Clan's ability to comprehend the Heavenly Dao and advance their cultivation through conventional means. Di Jiang eventually overcame this deficiency. 12 219 296
  • His acupoints and sea of qi were complete from birth, giving him the natural foundations corresponding to the Martial Dao's Body Refining and Qi Refining stages. 35
  • He retained his physical strength and cultivation when his Law Deity was sent into Heavenly Dao space. 119

Great Dao of Strength and Collective Formations

Pangu personally transmitted the Great Dao of Strength and the Dutian Divine Fiends Grand Formation to Di Jiang and the other Ancestral Witches. Di Jiang treated these inheritances as confidential foundations of the clan's future strength. 28

  • Dutian Divine Fiends Grand Formation — Combines the Twelve Ancestral Witches' natal laws to summon the Pangu Phantom. Di Jiang occupies the eastern position of space and gives the command to activate the formation. 30 49
  • Strategic restraint — After its successful completion, he ordered continued practice while reserving the formation as the clan's strongest trump card rather than using it lightly. 31
  • Heavenly Dao deployment — His Law Deity joined the other eleven within Heavenly Dao space, where their formation and Pangu Phantom helped restrain Hong Jun's will. 119 120
  • Combined Pangu True Body Phantom — The Ancestral Witches' formation and the Three Pure Ones' Three Powers Formation operated together in Chaos against Sage Di Jun. The resulting phantom possessed creation power superior in the hierarchy of laws, though its raw magical output initially lagged behind Di Jun's Sage power. 270 271

Pan Xuan later used the Heavenly Enlightenment Wisdom Light on Di Jiang, clarifying previously obscure questions and deepening his understanding of the Great Dao of Strength. 32

Martial Dao and Primordial Spirit

Di Jiang entered Martial Dao cultivation under Pan Xuan's guidance, beginning with Will Refining because of his naturally completed physical and qi foundations. His Manifestation took the form of his own Ancestral Witch True Form. He understood it as the embodiment of his spatial will, giving that will a vessel through which to commune with the laws of heaven and earth. 35 44 45

After completing Will Refining, he began Dao Refining, deepening the integration of Space Law, Manifestation, and flesh. By the finale, he had attained consummate mastery of Body Refining, Qi Refining, Will Refining, and Dao Refining. 45 343

His spiritual development proceeded through several distinct changes:

  • Removal of imposed restrictions — The severing of the Ancestral Witches' shackles allowed his True Spirit to faintly perceive Heavenly Dao laws without relying on his Law Deity. This opened a path toward a Primordial Spirit but did not immediately produce one. 160 161
  • Merit purification — Houtu's application of Great Dao merit cleansed the fiendish qi embedded in his bloodline and nurtured an embryonic Primordial Spirit. 218 219
  • Direct comprehension — Di Jiang distinguished the Law Deity's ability to let him “use” Space Law from the Primordial Spirit's ability to let him “understand” it. 219
  • Dao instruction — Teachings from Houtu, the Three Pure Ones, and Pan Xuan nourished and strengthened his developing Primordial Spirit. 227
  • Restoration of completeness — The return of his Law Deity, its Primordial Spirit strands, and its accumulated insights brought his spiritual strength into balance with his flesh. 296
  • Final unity — The completion of the world's laws erased the last faint distance between his complete Primordial Spirit and physical body. 343

Leadership and Strategic Judgment

Di Jiang directs the Twelve Ancestral Witches' collective decisions and operations.

  • He organized the effort to teach Pan Xuan the Dao, beginning the instruction himself with the law of space. 6 7
  • He proposed testing Pan Xuan's Heavenly Enlightenment Wisdom Light on ordinary witches, recognizing its potential to transform the Witch Clan. 12
  • He accepted Pan Xuan's strategy of secretly collecting battlefield corpses and accumulating strength rather than openly expanding the clan. 15 16
  • He ordered the group to avoid active battlefields and personally checked for enemy scouts before moving between sites. 17
  • He used inherited memories to identify the realm reached by the Ancestral Witches after their breakthrough. 24
  • He divided responsibility for collecting origins from the 365 principal stars among the thirteen siblings. 73
  • He recognized that Minghe's control of the Blood Sea made an unplanned confrontation dangerous and approved investigation and a possible alliance before further action. 89
  • He supported opening Divine Dao offices to beings outside the Witch Clan, recognizing that shared rules could transform potential enemies into allies. 95
  • He coordinated the appointment of Mountain Gods throughout the Primordial World and the personal supervision of the Five Great Mountains by Ancestral Witches. 102
  • He supported recruiting all three former hegemonic clans rather than limiting negotiations to the Dragon Clan, and personally represented the Witch Clan before Primordial Qilin. 107 108 112
  • He backed Pan Xuan's decision to negotiate privately with Di Jun and kept the Ancestral Witches outside Pangu Hall so that their presence would protect, rather than obstruct, the talks. 275

Items

  • Destruction Stele — Di Jiang retrieved the stele from the western abyss after Pan Xuan's inspection and later placed it in Pangu Hall for further study. Houtu subsequently refined it; it did not remain Di Jiang's personal treasure. 21 22 30
  • Pangu Hall — The ancestral home and secure base of the Twelve Ancestral Witches, where Di Jiang conducts discussions and shelters Pan Xuan. 1 16
  • Primordial Heaven-Measuring Ruler — An Acquired Merit Supreme Treasure kept deep within Pangu Hall since the Ancestral Witches' birth. Di Jiang retrieved it after Houtu developed a Primordial Spirit and ultimately presented it to Pan Xuan with the siblings' agreement. 13
  • Spirit Jade — Used to store the space-origin power he collected during the expedition to the principal stars. 73

Relationships

  • Pan Xuan — Younger brother. Di Jiang confirmed their shared Pangu origin, accepted him into the family, protected him, and later recognized him as the Witch Clan's “lucky star.” 3 6 15 His trust deepened into deference to Pan Xuan's strategic leadership, including the response to the Heavenly Court and negotiations with Di Jun. 139 275
  • Houtu — Younger sister and fellow Ancestral Witch. Di Jiang supported her transformation after the Heavenly Enlightenment Wisdom Light was used on her and celebrated the birth of her primordial spirit. 10 12 They later approached the Qilin Clan together. Houtu eventually used Great Dao merit to help Di Jiang and the other ten spiritless Ancestral Witches develop Primordial Spirits. 108 112 218 219
  • Zhu Jiuyin — Fellow elder Ancestral Witch and trusted adviser. Di Jiang regularly seeks his insight; Zhu Jiuyin stopped him from interrupting Houtu's transformation. 1 5 10 Their complementary space and time abilities supported later cultivation infrastructure and diplomatic missions, including the visit to the Three Pure Ones. 146 148 149
  • Zhu Rong and Gong Gong — Fellow Ancestral Witches whose recurring disputes Di Jiang can end through his authority. 1 17
  • The Twelve Ancestral Witches — Di Jiang serves as their central decision-maker, coordinating their cultivation, expeditions, and the Witch Clan's long-term strategy. 6 16 21
  • Pangu — Father and source of Di Jiang's bloodline. Di Jiang received the Great Dao of Strength and Dutian Divine Fiends Grand Formation from him, reveres him deeply, and later helped gather his auras for a complete funerary ritual. 26 28 198
  • The Three Pure Ones — Fellow descendants of Pangu, initially separated from the Ancestral Witches by an unnatural mutual repulsion. Di Jiang helped investigate the hostility and, after its removal, agreed with Taiqing Laozi that the two groups should address one another as brothers. They subsequently worked together as one family to protect the Primordial World. 149 151 161 171
  • Jieyin and Zhunti — Cultivators with whom the Witch Clan formed a favorable connection while repairing the western earth veins. Di Jiang welcomed their visits and accepted their warnings about hostility toward the clan among Zixiao Palace's attendees. 61 116
  • Primordial Qilin — A former hegemon whom Di Jiang personally approached with Houtu to discuss the Qilin Clan joining the Divine Dao System through Mountain God offices. 108 112
  • Minghe — Master of the Blood Sea. Di Jiang initially regarded his territorial control and potential retaliation as serious obstacles, favoring investigation and alliance over rash conflict. The Blood Sea later became connected to Mount Buzhou through Spatial Arrays Di Jiang established. 89 143
  • Di Jun — Initially an opposing leader whose attack on Pan Xuan brought the Twelve Ancestral Witches to the Undying Volcano. Di Jiang later fought him in Chaos as part of the combined Pangu True Body Phantom, then supported Pan Xuan's effort to cooperate with him against foreign Chaos powers and Hong Jun's control. 131 270 274 275 278

Story Role / Major Arcs

Recognition of Pan Xuan

Di Jiang initially regarded the gestating dragon as an unknown Pangu relic and urged caution. Once he confirmed Pan Xuan's origin, he formally accepted him as a brother and brought him into the Twelve Ancestral Witches' family. 2 3

Teaching Pan Xuan and the Primordial Spirit Discovery

Di Jiang led the decision to help Pan Xuan take a Dao body through systematic Dao instruction. He taught first, expounding the law of space, and supported Pan Xuan when the Heavenly Enlightenment Wisdom Light was questioned. 5 7

Following Houtu's emergence of a primordial spirit, Di Jiang immediately recognized the wider implications for the Witch Clan. He proposed using the Wisdom Light on ordinary witches, who may have absorbed less Killing Intent than the Ancestral Witches. 11 12

He also retrieved the Primordial Heaven-Measuring Ruler from deep within Pangu Hall. Although Houtu's new Primordial Spirit initially made her its prospective recipient, she recognized that Pan Xuan was better suited to it, and Di Jiang presented the treasure to him with the family's agreement. 13

Witch Clan Strategy

When the Ancestral Witches considered creating more clansmen, Di Jiang invited Pan Xuan to give his opposing view. He accepted Pan Xuan's warning that overt expansion could provoke the Dragon, Phoenix, and Qilin Clans into destroying the Witch Clan, then adopted a strategy of covertly gathering corpses and absorbing Killing Intent until the three clans weakened one another. 14 15

Western Expedition and Breakthrough

Di Jiang led the Ancestral Witches across the battlefields of the three clans and into the western lands. After their attacks failed to break an ancient restriction, he relied on Pan Xuan's Righteous Vitality Formula to open it and protected Pan Xuan and Houtu from the Killing Intent within. 17 19

Within the abyss, Di Jiang absorbed ancient Ferocious Beast Killing Intent and broke through alongside the other participating Ancestral Witches. He then supported Pan Xuan's warning about the Destruction Stele and ordered an immediate withdrawal to Pangu Hall. 20 21

Mount Buzhou

After the breakthrough, Di Jiang agreed that the Witch Clan should cease collecting corpses to avoid drawing attention. He joined Pan Xuan and the other Ancestral Witches in climbing Mount Buzhou to temper themselves and honor Pangu. 25

The ascent allowed him to sense Pangu's spatial power. When Pangu's figure appeared, Di Jiang wept with reverence and bloodline recognition. He received the Great Dao of Strength and the Dutian Divine Fiends Grand Formation, then warned the family not to disclose these inheritances casually, even to the clan's Great Witches. 25 26 28

Back at Pangu Hall, he directed the first study and activation of the formation, occupying its eastern spatial position. After successfully summoning the Pangu Phantom, he established the formation as a closely guarded trump card. 30 31

Martial Dao Development and Western Restoration

Pan Xuan's Heavenly Enlightenment Wisdom Light clarified Di Jiang's understanding of the Great Dao of Strength. A later examination revealed that the Ancestral Witches already possessed the foundations of Body Refining and Qi Refining, allowing Di Jiang and his siblings to begin developing their personal Martial Daos through Will Refining. 32 35

During the restoration of the western earth veins, Di Jiang used his spatial power to move fragments into place over an immense period. This work helped establish the Witch Clan's favorable connection with Jieyin and Zhunti. 40 41 116

His eventual Martial Dao Manifestation reproduced his True Form. Recognizing it as the vessel of his spatial will, he completed Will Refining and called for continued seclusion as the group began Dao Refining. 44 45

Establishment of the Witch Clan and Overseas Expeditions

Di Jiang supported Pan Xuan's proposal that Pangu's blood descendants publicly establish the Witch Clan around the duty of protecting the Primordial World and completing the Heavenly Dao. He led the activation of the Dutian Divine Fiends Grand Formation while Houtu presided over the Pangu Phantom for the proclamation. 48 49

Following the Great Dao's blessing, the Ancestral Witches possessed Law Deities connected to the Heavenly Dao. Di Jiang continued coordinating cultivation and defensive preparations while refusing to let hostile outside opinion determine the clan's course. 53 55 58 61

He joined the expedition that secured Penglai, Fangzhang, and Yingzhou as concealed overseas cultivation grounds. During the later star-origin expedition, he divided the 365 principal stars among the thirteen siblings and located rare spatial stars through his Space Law Deity. He also contributed a drop of blood essence to Pan Xuan's preparations for creating the Star Witch Clan. 68 73 82

Divine Dao Expansion

Di Jiang supported Pan Xuan's conception of the Divine Dao System as an order-building framework open to outside participants rather than a tool of exclusive Witch Clan domination. He helped organize its implementation, personally taking responsibility for Central Mount Song while the Ancestral Witches and Great Witches spread Mountain God offices throughout the Primordial World. 95 99 102 105

After merging Space Law with Mount Song's earth veins, he left a projection to guard the mountain. He also offered members of his Space Tribe as assistants to the Mountain Gods and supported unified methods for communication and administration through the Divine Dao Network. 105

He and Houtu helped broaden Pan Xuan's recruitment plan to encompass the Dragon, Phoenix, and Qilin Clans. Chosen to demonstrate the Witch Clan's sincerity as its leading Ancestral Witch, Di Jiang accompanied Houtu to the Qilin Clan and explained the Divine Dao System's potential to alleviate its decline and karmic burden. 107 108 112

When Hong Jun's arrangements threatened the Divine Dao, Di Jiang joined the Ancestral Witches in sending their Law Deities into Heavenly Dao space. Their Pangu Phantom restrained Hong Jun while Pan Xuan pursued the formal investiture of the three clans. 119 120

Protecting Pan Xuan and Developing the Blood Sea

Di Jiang and all eleven other Ancestral Witches arrived at the Undying Volcano while Di Jun, Taiyi, and Kunpeng were attacking Pan Xuan. Their arrival forced the attackers to abandon the engagement and retreat. 131

For Pan Xuan's subsequent Blood Sea mission, Di Jiang insisted on appropriate protection and chose Houtu and Zhu Jiuyin as companions. When the Heavenly Court was established during their absence, he refused to make a hurried response and instead waited for the strategist to return. 135 139

After cooperation with the Blood Sea was secured, Di Jiang created permanent Spatial Arrays to carry purified fiend qi to the twelve tribes and replenishing bloodline essence to the Pangu Blood Pool. He also agreed to help extend cultivation infrastructure to the Three Immortal Islands, whose stationed clanspeople lacked the benefits available on Mount Buzhou. 143 146

Reconciliation with the Three Pure Ones

Di Jiang supported investigating whether the estrangement between the Ancestral Witches and the Three Pure Ones had been imposed from outside. He selected himself, Zhu Jiuyin, and Pan Xuan for the visit to Kunlun Mountain, favoring a small, levelheaded diplomatic party. 147 148

During the meeting, he detected a sudden loathing toward the Three Pure Ones and recognized that it did not arise from his own heart. He maintained his composure and proposed cooperation between the Divine Dao and Xuanmen while Pan Xuan encouraged investigation of the disturbance. 149 151

The later removal of the Ancestral Witches' restrictions opened Di Jiang's True Spirit to direct perception of Heavenly Dao laws and restored the sense of kinship between Pangu's descendants. He and Taiqing Laozi subsequently agreed that their groups should address one another as brothers; the Three Pure Ones built abodes near Pangu Hall and remained on Mount Buzhou for three thousand years. 160 161 171

Pangu's Funeral, Reincarnation, and Primordial Spirit Birth

Di Jiang helped coordinate preparations for Pangu's complete funerary ritual, summoning the Three Pure Ones for discussion and presenting the twelve Pangu auras the Ancestral Witches had collected across the Primordial Continent. 193 198

During preparations for reincarnation, he isolated the Blood Sea with layers of spatial barriers while the other participants established further concealment. After reincarnation's establishment, he agreed to let Houtu begin purifying the spiritless Ancestral Witches with Great Dao merit, offering his own merit for the process. 214 218

The purification produced his embryonic Primordial Spirit and fundamentally changed his ability to comprehend Space Law. Subsequent rounds of teaching from Houtu, Laozi, Pan Xuan, Yuanshi, and Tongtian helped nourish the Eleven Ancestral Witches' new spiritual foundations. 219 227

Thirty-Three Heavens and the Threat from Chaos

When the Thirty-Three Heavens emerged over Mount Buzhou, Di Jiang was among the Divine Dao's leaders drawn into the confrontation with Di Jun's Heavenly Court. The dispute led the Twelve Ancestral Witches, the Three Pure Ones, and Di Jun into Chaos, where Di Jiang and Taiqing Laozi stood at the forefront of their side. 267 270

The Ancestral Witches and Three Pure Ones combined their formations to produce the Pangu True Body Phantom against Di Jun. When hidden foreign powers were detected, the combatants began holding back their genuine attacks and coordinating against the external threat. 270 271 272 273

After returning, Di Jiang helped describe the five Sage-level Chaos rulers to Pan Xuan. He then supported Pan Xuan's proposal to invite Di Jun into Pangu Hall for private negotiations, promised the Ancestral Witches' full backing, and remained outside with the others to guard the talks without interfering. 274 275

He also pledged the Twelve Ancestral Witches' full cooperation for the ensuing journey into Chaos, keeping the Dutian Divine Fiends Grand Formation and Pangu True Body Phantom ready for activation. 278

Complete Primordial Spirit and Final Unity

When Pan Xuan proposed freeing the Heavenly Dao from control by individual wills, Di Jiang joined the recall of the Law Deities from Heavenly Dao space. The return of the missing Primordial Spirit strands and accumulated insights completed his spiritual foundation, bringing his Primordial Spirit to the same strength as his flesh. The Twelve Ancestral Witches then joined Pan Xuan's discussion of the Martial Dao's highest realm, named Dao Refining. 296

By the finale, Di Jiang had mastered all four Martial Dao realms, yet a faint separation still remained between spirit and flesh. As the Primordial World advanced into an eternal true realm and its laws became complete, that final distance disappeared. Standing before Pangu Hall, he released a long cry in which Space Law thundered, attaining complete unity of spirit, flesh, and space. 343
