Background and History

Origins

Hong Jun originated from the remnant soul of the Fate Demon God, one of the Three Thousand Chaos Demon Gods. After surviving Pangu’s axe, that remnant merged with Heaven and Earth Primordial Unity Qi to form a new being. He inherited both the Fate Law and the cultivation foundation of the primordial qi 168 169.

Using the Fate Law, Hong Jun located scattered fragments of the Creation Jade Disc. Their records of the Three Thousand Great Daos helped him organize scattered cultivation methods into the Xuanmen Immortal Dao 168.

The Early Calamities

During the Ferocious Beast Calamity, Hong Jun waited until Shen Ni’s forces and the innate divinities had exhausted one another before joining Yin-Yang Ancestor, Qiankun Ancestor, Yang Mei, and others against the beasts. He gained merit and prestige while studying the participating divinities’ strengths, temperaments, and weaknesses 169.

He followed a similar strategy during the Dragon-Han Calamity, intervening after the Dragon, Phoenix, and Qilin Clans had suffered catastrophic losses. Against Luo Hou, he deployed his Three Corpses, Pangu Banner, and Creation Jade Disc to break the Immortal-Slaying Sword Formation 37 169.

The conflict ended with Yin-Yang Ancestor and Qiankun Ancestor dead, Yang Mei departing into Chaos, Luo Hou dying by self-detonation, and the western earth veins destroyed. Hong Jun emerged as the victor, acquiring Luo Hou’s weapons and treasures left by his fallen allies 169.

Ultimate Objective

Hong Jun’s ambition was to seize Pangu’s Proof-of-the-Dao Fruit: the achievement embodied by opening heaven and earth and transforming into the Primordial World. By bringing Pangu’s creation under his own control, he hoped to transcend the level of the Chaos Demon Gods and attain an unprecedented realm 282.

Appearance

Hong Jun has white hair, white brows, and austere, ancient features 176.

  • Purple qi surrounds his body, accompanied by an abyss-like aura and the pressure of a Sage 52 176.
  • A purple-gold halo containing fundamental laws revolves behind him during his preaching 59.
  • A purple-gold Dao Seal lies between his brows 224.

Personality

Hong Jun maintains an outwardly calm, detached manner even when events threaten his interests. He publicly praises the Witch Clan’s contribution to the Primordial World while privately planning to weaken it through rival forces 52.

His preferred strategy is to make competing powers restrain one another and depend on him as mediator. He regards disciples, political appointments, and cultivation gifts as ways to shape the world’s balance of power rather than unconditional acts of generosity 101 169.

He is adaptable under pressure. When four foreign sovereigns gain an advantage against him, he bluffs that he will detonate the Creation Jade Disc, then proposes cooperation against the Primordial World. His composure finally breaks near death, when he offers Minghe his entire legacy in exchange for survival 305 306 341.

Abilities and Skills

Fate Law

Hong Jun inherits the Fate Demon God’s ability to perceive fate and deduce future developments 168.

  • Locates Creation Jade Disc fragments scattered throughout the Primordial World 168.
  • Examines causal threads and selects advantageous courses of action 169.
  • Limitation: deductions depend on known variables. Pan Xuan’s unexpected abilities and the Witch Clan’s altered development undermine their accuracy 169.

Three Corpses Severing Method

Hong Jun can manifest his good, evil, and self corpses as independent combatants 37.

  • Each of his three corpses possesses strength comparable to his true body 37.
  • They wield a horsetail whisk, longsword, and Jade Ruyi respectively, allowing him to reinforce several allies simultaneously 37.
  • According to Pan Xuan’s explanation, the method taught to others fragments the primordial spirit and leaves channels for Hong Jun’s control 166.
  • His sermons omit the requirement that the treasures housing the Three Corpses share the same origin for their eventual reunion 166.

Heavenly Dao Authority

By achieving Unity with the Dao, Hong Jun merges his will with the Heavenly Dao’s rules and takes possession of its core 118 119.

  • Expands his influence by infiltrating successive law nodes 119.
  • Receives feedback directly from Heavenly Dao laws, allowing him to sense reincarnation’s establishment despite concealment arrays 221.
  • Uses the upheaval accompanying Di Jun’s Sagehood to expand his will and recover ground against the Pangu True Body 266.
  • Limitations: his self-established Unity rules prevent him from emerging unless a great calamity occurs. Pangu’s foundational authority can suppress his will, and the Earthly Dao exists outside his control 159 168 224.

Primordial Violet Qi and Hidden Marks

Hong Jun condenses Primordial Violet Qi from the Creation Jade Disc fragments as miniature collections of the Three Thousand Great Daos 221.

  • Presents the qi as a foundation for attaining Sagehood while linking its holders to his will and the Heavenly Dao Core 113 188.
  • Places restrictions and will imprints within the qi; these are later stripped from Di Jun’s strand 282.
  • Plants a mark in the Three Pure Ones’ primordial spirits that intensifies their aversion to the Witch Clan 153.
  • Leaves additional marks in the divine souls of the King Father of the East and West Queen Mother, later removed by Pan Xuan 322.

Creation Power and Defensive Arts

Hong Jun channels the Creation Jade Disc’s laws for combat, protection, and the construction of his Chaos Divine Domain 294 305.

  • Breaks Luo Hou’s sword formation and tears open Brahma’s reincarnation vortex 37 305.
  • Neutralizes incoming attacks, including Pan Xuan’s Divine Dao Chains, through the disc’s radiance 332.
  • Protects himself from violent Chaos Qi with mystic light 294.
  • Builds layered mazes, traps, and a Restrictions Net around his Divine Domain 332.
  • Limitations: coordinated attacks can overwhelm his defenses. Pan Xuan’s Divine Dao Star Seal and Laozi’s Taiji Diagram eventually immobilize the disc itself 337 338.

Teaching and Political Strategy

Hong Jun systematizes cultivation and spreads it through Zixiao Palace’s sermons 112 168.

  • His first three sermons cover the Dao of Great Luo, the Quasi-Sage Dao, and the Dao of Sages 112.
  • Announces a fourth lecture devoted to the Hunyuan Great Dao 172.
  • Supports Heavenly Court and the independent cultivator leadership as counterweights to the Witch Clan and to one another 101 169.
  • Advises Di Jun to strengthen demon unity, stellar-law authority, and Heavenly Court’s administrative order rather than depend solely on military power 224.

Equipment and Treasures

Creation Jade Disc

  • Nature: a shattered Chaos treasure recording the Three Thousand Great Daos; Hong Jun collects and uses its fragments 118 168.
  • Primary functions: cultivation, Unity with the Dao, attack neutralization, defensive barriers, and creation power 118 294 332.
  • Gift to Di Jun: Hong Jun removes a fingernail-sized fragment to accelerate Di Jun’s progress toward Sagehood 251.
  • Final battle: restrained by the Divine Dao Star Seal and Taiji Diagram, depriving Hong Jun of his strongest protection 338.

Major Story Arcs

Zixiao Palace and the Struggle for Authority

Pan Xuan first identifies Hong Jun’s ambitions while studying gaps in the Heavenly Dao. He concludes that Hong Jun intends to appropriate the Three Pure Ones’ teaching authority and the Ancestral Witches’ world-protecting responsibilities 47.

When the Witch Clan receives genuine Great Dao blessings, Hong Jun recognizes its Law Deities as a threat to his own control. Unwilling to bear the karmic consequences of attacking directly, he turns to disciples, political appointments, and rival powers 52 101.

After his third sermon, he accepts six disciples and distributes Primordial Violet Qi to them, then grants an additional strand to Di Jun. Having united with the Heavenly Dao, he begins extending his will outward from its core 113 118 119.

Pangu’s Blockade and the Loss of the Three Pure Ones

The Twelve Ancestral Witches summon Pangu’s phantom within the Heavenly Dao, curbing Hong Jun’s expansion. Pan Xuan then approaches the Three Pure Ones, who discover Hong Jun’s hostility-amplifying marks in their primordial spirits 120 147 153.

The Three Pure Ones remove their Primordial Violet Qi and abandon his Three Corpses cultivation system. Their Primordial Spirit Phantom joins the Witches’ Fleshly Body Phantom to form a complete Pangu True Body, forcing Hong Jun’s will back toward the Heavenly Dao Core 159 166 168.

Earthly Dao and Di Jun’s Sagehood

The establishment of reincarnation and the Earthly Dao ends the Heavenly Dao’s sole authority over the Primordial World’s laws. Hong Jun responds by urging Di Jun to build stronger foundations for Heavenly Court 221 224.

As the Divine Dao further strengthens Pangu’s True Body, Hong Jun secretly gives Di Jun a Creation Jade Disc fragment. Di Jun’s eventual Sagehood allows Hong Jun to recover an even balance with the phantom and gain a slight advantage 251 266.

That recovery proves unstable. Pan Xuan persuades Di Jun to examine his Primordial Violet Qi, and Hong Jun later senses its restrictions and will imprints being dismantled 276 282.

Flood and Expulsion

After his pawn Chi You is defeated, Hong Jun unleashes a devastating flood of primordial turbid water against the rising Human Dao. The water disperses spiritual power and damages divine souls, but Yu the Great channels it into the East Sea with the gods’ help 291.

Pan Xuan then assembles the Three Powers Return to the Origin Formation. The united Heavenly, Earthly, and Human Daos sever Hong Jun’s connection to the Heavenly Dao and uproot his hidden contingencies. He escapes into Chaos, declaring that he will establish another Heavenly Dao 291.

Chaos Divine Domain

Hong Jun follows a contingency linked to Di Jun’s former Primordial Violet Qi to the ruined Divine Domain of Amenominakanushi. There, he uses the Creation Jade Disc to establish a new base 294.

Zeus, Odin, God, and Brahma challenge him. Their combined assault gains only a slight advantage before his threatened detonation of the Creation Jade Disc forces them back. He then offers the disc as collateral and proposes a Chaos Oath-backed alliance to invade the Primordial World 305 306.

Final Battle and Death

Pan Xuan and the Three Pure Ones destroy Hong Jun’s outer defenses. Pan Xuan and Laozi gradually overwhelm him, then severely wound him with the Divine Dao Star Seal and Taiji Diagram 332 337.

With the Creation Jade Disc immobilized, Minghe strikes Hong Jun with Yuantu and Abi. Tongtian traps him inside the Immortal-Slaying Sword Formation, where Minghe waits for his Slaughter Dao power to stabilize 338 339 340.

Hong Jun offers his accumulated teachings in exchange for mercy, but Minghe refuses. Yuantu severs his head, Abi pierces his chest, and the Four Swords of Immortal Slaying shred his Sage body into dust, killing him utterly 341.
