Background / History

Pangu was the larger of two embryos nurtured by the Primordial Chaos Azure Lotus. He was born first, while Chu Yi remained an embryo as his younger brother. Pangu absorbed nearly all of the lotus's origin, but compensated by protecting Chu Yi and bringing him Origin Fragments gathered from Chaos. 1

The Great Dao appointed Pangu to open Chaos and create heaven and earth. Though he was troubled when Chaos God-Demons opposed this plan, Chu Yi's support restored his conviction. Pangu subsequently entered seclusion within the Three Thousand Laws Array to prepare. 2 3

While Pangu cultivated, the Space, Time, Slaughter, and Destruction God-Demons targeted Chu Yi as leverage. Pangu had left the Chaos Pearl behind to protect his brother; after learning of the attack, he placed Chu Yi inside the pearl himself before confronting the united Three Thousand Chaos God-Demons. 3 6 7

Pangu killed the Destruction God-Demon with a single strike of the Heaven-Splitting Axe, then slaughtered the Three Thousand God-Demons apart from a few escaping crippled primordial spirits. After attaining the Hunyuan Wuji Great Luo Golden Immortal realm, he cleaved Chaos apart and formed heaven from clear qi and earth from turbid qi. 8

When heaven and earth threatened to reunite, Pangu used his own body to hold them apart for 18,000 years. Once the Fortune Jade Disc shattered and his strength was exhausted, he transformed his body into the Primordial World's celestial bodies, landscapes, and natural phenomena. Before departing, he gave Chu Yi the Chaos Pearl and Nine-Turn Profound Origin Technique, asking him to protect and strengthen the newborn world. 9

Pangu possesses a colossal, burly body with ancient-bronze skin, coiled black hair resembling rolling clouds, and dense Dao patterns covering his form. His movements can stir the Chaos Sea, while his true body towers on an immense scale. 1 20
