Background / History

Wu Di transmigrated after being electrocuted while playing a mobile game. He inherited a life surrounded by honors he felt he did not deserve and initially possessed no real combat ability. Driven by a desire for strength, he trained intensely and even attempted Saitama's regimen, without success. During a City M monster incident, his three facial scars caused Smile Man to mistake him for the legendary KING; Wu Di then accidentally killed a Dragon-level monster, activating the Talent Fusion System. 1 2

The system allowed him to earn Talent Points from monsters and exchange them for talents, skills, and experience cards. As his strength grew, the public increasingly identified him as the Seventh S-Class Hero and “Strongest Man on Earth,” while Wu Di privately struggled to live up to that reputation. 2 4 5

To avoid exposing his identity, he introduced himself to Saitama as Wu Di and entered the Hero Association under that name. His public ranking progressed from B-Class Rank 5 to A-Class Rank 35, while his KING identity continued to receive credit for major crises. 7 42 50

Appearance

Wu Di is a tall, imposing man whose defining feature is the three frightening scars on his face. His presence, posture, and the sound associated with his combat state make civilians immediately identify him as KING. 5 25 32

  • Three prominent facial scars, revealed when his hat or mask is displaced. 1 45
  • Frequently wears a baseball cap or mask to conceal his identity. 1 32
  • Has used a battle suit during dangerous infiltrations and battles. 45
  • Was known by civilians as the “Masked Black Hero” after saving people from underground dwellers. 4 6

Personality

Wu Di is intensely motivated by the pursuit of strength. He seeks out powerful opponents, treats monster incidents as opportunities to gain Talent Points, and at one point openly views other fighters as potential stepping stones toward becoming the strongest. 27 67 80

Despite his ambition, he repeatedly prioritizes civilians over recognition. He moves battles away from populated areas, gives Saitama credit for destroying the Z City meteorite, and permits Black Sperm and Homeless Emperor to leave rather than risk the citizens threatened by Black Sperm's hidden clones. 23 32 55

He is strategic under pressure but not fearless. Facing Homeless Emperor, he experienced extreme fear for the first time since becoming KING; nevertheless, he maintained a calm exterior and used the arrival of other S-Class Heroes to improve his odds. 52 53 His battle with Mumen Rider ultimately teaches him that conviction and unity are essential to fully realizing the Hero Heart. 239

Abilities & Skills

  • Allows him to take risks against stronger enemies and survive attacks that would otherwise be fatal. 30 34
  • Regeneration does not eliminate exhaustion caused by heavy Aura use. 5

Aura and Hero Heart

Aura is one of Wu Di's core combat abilities, while the Hero Heart serves as the foundation for his successive power liberations.

  • Aura accumulates through battle and can be enhanced with Talent Points. 4 32
  • His enhanced Aura continues growing while he is attacked, allowing him to defend and wait for a decisive opening. 32
  • Hero Heart liberations unlocked Purgatory Unrivaled Blazing Wave Cannon and Ten Thousand Punch Barrage. 67 80
  • Super King Mode enabled him to suppress four top Dragon-level monsters with a full-power Blazing Wave Cannon. 91
  • Full liberation authority was unlocked after he recognized the importance of conviction during Mumen Rider's test. 239

Psychic Powers

Wu Di possesses psychic abilities obtained through the system and later enhanced by divine power.

  • Used Hellish Maelstrom to defeat Dragon-level Vaccine Man. 8
  • Can employ Psychic Throw, Psychic Impact, and telekinetic attacks against high-level opponents. 87 90 134

  • Absorbed Homeless Emperor's divine power after defeating him. 92
  • Used Bone King Form to conceal his altered identity and power. 92

  • Can activate Overdrive and Saitama Form when confronting threats beyond ordinary Dragon-level opponents. 146

King Engine

King Engine is Wu Di's exclusive spiritual attack skill.

  • Produces a deafening roar that instills panic and can cause direct spiritual damage. 194
  • Its power scales with Wu Di's strength. 194
  • Its sound had long been treated by civilians and heroes as a sign that KING had entered combat mode. 32 54

Ultimate Summoning Technique

A passive S-Class talent associated with KING.

  • Cannot be consciously activated by Wu Di. 54
